You know
I honestly don’t know if we’ll cover. Saban isn’t going to mess around once we have an adequate lead and he’s not going to leave starters in longer than necessary with Pennsylvania State and Count Paterno coming to town the following week. Still, can SJSU hold us below 45 and can they score 7-10? Tough call.

blowouts are
the hardest to call for sure.
That white stuff on the top of chickencrap...... is chickencrap.
In these types of “easy” openers I’ve always taken the points and I’ve rarely failed to have a good start to my Vegas Labor Day vacations.

I think our 2nd team offense will run up a LOT of points on them.
And I’m guessing that Saban will keep our first team D in for much of the game, especially the secondary, to get them some more practice. Could be ugly.
Ouch, that'll be tough to cover...
You know we’ll want to play it conservative and get the starters out early, plus Dareus may not play in this one. Maybe if the line is around 33 or 34 I’d take that bet, but 38+? I just don’t see that as a smart money bet.
Either way, though, you’re right, the blowouts are the hardest calls because the final score is always exactly what the dominant team wants it to be. Skill and execution don’t really mean much in the end, it’s all pretty much at the whim of the head coach of the dominant team.
What I’m wondering is what will be the ‘Bama / PSU line the next week. I’m thinking we’ll be a 7-10 point favorite.

For PSU? No way.
Not enough money will go for Bama +17. The line is determined by where the money falls.

idk....
I could see McCarron and Trent/ Lacy come in and run it down their throats. Those guys will be itching to prove themselves in actual game scenarios…I could see our backups scoring more than the 1st team.

Even with Star Jackson on cleanup we easily covered that line. With AJ, I definitely think it could happen.

I'd peg it -11.5 at home.
plus or minus a point or two.

I think we will cover
because we are not going to fall on the ball in the 3rd qt. and even running Lacy and Goode and even playing our 2nd line they will not be able to stop our run.
And, I think we need to let AJ air it out some just for the practice and even our 2nd and 3rd team receivers will be too fast for these guys.
Furthermore, unless they are content to let the air out of the ball I suspect Barron will get a pick 6 and we should get a few other picks as well.
Plus, their punter making that comment is not going to help their cause. Look for at least one blocked punt.
I look for Bama to win by 50+. This is a bad football team we are playing make no mistake about it.
And, we haven’t played anyone in a long time and I look for our guys to really want to do some serious hitting. If we played them for game 2 or 3 I’d say we may back off but our guys are dying to get on the field.
This game reminds me a lot of season opener in 2007 against WCar which we won 52-6 or even NTex last year which we won 53-7. I think the score will be worse, we are better now.
I’m putting some on Bama to cover.

Our riches...
in offensive back-ups makes this sound reasoning.

I also think they cover
With what we know from last weeeks scrimmage, both of our offenses are capable of putting up awesome stats. If our defense got lit up by our offense what can their defense do. I know it was just a scrimmage but I’m sure the defense didn’t just lay down. The second srimmage they knew their talent wouldn’t allow them to skate through so they played with lot more intensity. SJSU doesn’t have that kind of talent so I look for the same kinda play from our offense as in the first fall scrimmage.
"Defense"
I had a dream last night
We won 48-3. So I’m gonna go with my dream.
Can you tell I’m ready for football to start?

Like stated above...
I can see AJ and Phillip wanting to impress, given what may be limited playing time over the course of the season. And it will be fun watching Goode and Lacy steamroll defenders in an attempt to get the 3rd rb spot. So who knows, we could cover.
Anybody know where I can get the SJSU game live on internet radio?
Phillip Sims
will likely see a red shirt.
As far as internet I don’t think they have released it yet but I’m hoping ESPN 3 has a live video feed on the net.

If SJSU scores...
I don’t think we cover.
Saban’s obviously not worried about covering these games for the boosters.
Didn’t cover against FIU (dammit!)
Barely covered against North Texas
Only beat UTC 45-0 (which didn’t cover if you have one of those really shady offshore books that puts up I-AA lines).
If it’s not 35-0 at half, I think we’ll be 0-1 ATS after this one.

No way in hell we cover 38-41
I’m thinking a beating, but not that epic. Something like 41-16. This team went to a bowl two years ago. Admittedly, they do get crushed against the bigger foes. But, we’re breaking in the “kyrie eliason” secondary, new kickers/punters, and a bunch of younger guys all over the board.
