Pro Combat Details Leak

The University of Miami has prematurely released a press statement that lists the details of the various pro combat jerseys.

For Alabama, Marty Lyons will announce the jersey, and it will contain a "Houndstooth check pattern incorporated into the uniform in tribute to legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant."

It could look like the 2006 jersey worn against Ole Miss, or it could be less tasteful than that. We'll find out tomorrow.

Shit, be glad we're not Ohio State...

The Buckeye uniforms, against Michigan of all teams, will include stylized numbers, american flags, and camouflage. No offense to the whole WWII theme, but that sounds about as bad as humanly possible. It’s almost like Nike and Ohio State outsourced the design job to Sean Hannity.

Well..

Based on initial description I have to say I think the WVU may be the one to keep an eye on. A headlamp style stripe on the helmet with black smudges on the uniforms. I get what they are going for but..I’m not sure how that will turn out on a uniform.

Saban said subtle, maybe its tone-on-tone, say white on white, which would be pretty slick.

From what they said..

They didn’t give a color pattern on it. Even if it is black and white I believe it could be done nicely. If you go to the official site that is going to do the unveiling tomorrow you can make out faint uniform designs.

Don't know if this is true or not...

But it was posted on the Tidesports forums:

The jersey numbers on the front and back have a blended houndstooth print into the white numbers. It really is not that noticible. It just makes the numbers look dirty. There are also American flags on both arm sleeves. That is all that is changed with the jersey. The pants have no real significant changes. There are script crimson “A” logos on both hips, and there is a faint “A” logo on both thighs that are white, so you really can’t even see them. Other than that, there is nothing else changed on the pants.

The helmet is what is really different, and really has more of the “Pro Combat” changes we have already seen for other schools. The stripe down the middle of the helmet is a bit wider, and there is houndstooth print blended in all the way through it. I could not tell if it was the same with the numbers on the side of the helmets, because the photo had the player looking straight ahead. And, sorry to disappoint some of you, but the helmets are CRIMSON. Not white like some of you had hoped.
