Your 2010 Season Predictions

First off, this isn't the "What will Bama's record be?" thread...Ill save that for a newbie. I'm going a little grander then that...

Below are my predictions for the entire season. Each conference winner, BCS NC winner, Heisman winner etc. Of course the whole point is for you guys to follow suit and we'll check back at seasons end and see who was the big bad mamma jamma! So here it goes...

Conference Champions:

SEC

West- Bama

East- UF (by default) Seriously..The east is so weak this year MSU would probably come in 2nd.

Winner: Bama and btw our record will be 13-1 overall.

ACC

Atlantic- FSU

Coastal- Va Tech

Winner: FSU (their offense will be lights out this year and the D will be good enough to go 10-2)

Big 10

Iowa (old school running game with a good D will be enough to surpass a not that great Ohio State)

Pac-10

Oregon St.- really..Who else is there? The only other option is Oregon.

Big 12

North- Nebraska- strongest team in a weak division.

South- Oklahoma- loses to a team they shouldn't but beats Texas.

Winner: Nebraska

Big East:

Winner: Really doesn't matter

WAC- Boise duh ( but they lose to Va Tech to open the season)

MAC- TCU double duh ( lose to OSU to open the season)

BCS NC Game: Bama plays Nebraska and wins back to back NC's.

Heisman winner: Ingrams injury early on knocks him out of the running. Christian Ponder wins the Heisman after putting up ridiculous numbers and leading FSU back to its rightful place as ACC Champions.

So there they are. Of course it's just my opinion. If you don't agree, either put up or shut up...

RTR and here's to #14!!!!

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

I'm interested to see how Georgia does this year

I’ve begun to hear a little bit of hype about them, even to the point of some people predicting them to win the east. Not that I’d agree with that… I think Florida is still the overwhelming favorite but maybe Georgia can do better than last year.

SEC – Bama
ACC – VT
Big 10 11 12 Whatever – OSU
Big 12 11 10 Whatever – Texas
PAC 10 12 Whatever – Arizona
WAC – Boise St.
MAC – Temple
MWC – TCU
Sun Belt – Troy
C-USA – Southern Miss.
Big East – UConn

Bama/Boise in the BCSNCG. And it will be an absolute shame that Boise will be in, but I don’t see a loss to VT keeping them out.

really?

If Boise loses to Va Tech they will drop to probably 7-8. They only decent game left for them is OSU. And thats not going to be big enough to put them back at #2.

If Va Tech has a good year...

as I expect them to (10-2, ACC Champs) and that’s the only loss of the season for Boise St, I expect them to get there sherely out of being “snuffed” in the past. Yes, they will need some help at the top with losses and whatnot, but with the way the top 10 has shuffled throughout the season for the past 5 years or so, I don’t think that this is too much of a stretch to predict.

Even after a loss to VT, Boise will be dining on cupcakes for the rest of the season while everyone else is scratching and clawing their way to the end.

Now, had they not started so high, then no; they’d have to win out to make it. But when you start out in the top 3, it’s not hard to get back with only one loss early in the season.

by TopDaddy on Sep 1, 2010 12:48 PM CDT up reply actions

i guess it really

depends on the game itself (which is almost here btw!!) If Boise hangs tough and loses by less than 10 and then Va Tech goes on to win the ACC. Sure, I could see them creeping back into the mix. But they will need a lot of help. Nebraska, Ohio St, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, TCU etc would all have to lose multiple games if Boise wants to play Bama…

I really think there is no way Boise gets in if they lose to VA tech

Maybe… MAYBE if every team in an AQ conference (other than one, I guess, which could be an opponent in the NCG) had 2 losses.

Was it you that I argued this point with in another post?

I guess I’m not going to convince you, but in my mind it’s absurdly clear that BSU absolutely has to be undefeated to get into the NCG. And even as an undefeated, if they weren’t playing VT it would still be a stretch for them. If they lose a game — any game — they have no shot. A 2 loss SEC champion and a 2 loss Big 10 or Big XII champ would easily jump a 1 loss BSU. Even if they didn’t jump them in the polls, a 1 loss BSU would be at best #6 or 7 in the computers.

by CarrotTop4 on Sep 1, 2010 5:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

They’ve gone undefeated before without a nod to the championship game. How in the world would they get there after losing one of the only legitimate contests they play this year?

by billycthulhu on Sep 1, 2010 7:51 PM CDT up reply actions

No, that wasn't me before...

my opinion is that their 1 loss can’t just be any loss. It has to be to a ACC Champ Va Tech team. And we also have to treat them like any ole team now that they are in the top 3. As much as I hate to say it, this isn’t the Boise of old that began ranked #15. They are now in the top 3 and have the same opportunities to lose the first game and move back up that anyone has in the top 3.

Honestly, I could care less about Boise and their problems with getting in. I hope they get smacked by VT, but if they do and then climb back up to the top on the strength of cupcakes I wouldn’t be surprised.

Anyway...

SEC – Bama
ACC – Miami
Big 10 – OSU
Pac 10 – who the hell knows? My die roll says Arizona WHOOOO
Big 12 – Texas (I think Nebraska is overhyped – the only challenger I see is Oklahoma)
Big East – who cares? Pitt
WAC – Wyoming! Naw, there’s only one decent team in that conference
MWC – TCU? I feel too uneducated about the MWC. How is Utah looking?

PAIN!!!!!!! oh wait, already did that thread...

SECW – Bama
SECE – fla
ACC – dont know/care. VT? certainly NOT miami
BE – WVU
big 10 – osu edges out iowa
big12 N – nebraska, Neb is big 12 champ
big 12 S – OU
pac 10 – oregon, arizona will be mediocre, arizona state will aspire to mediocrity…
MWC- Utah
WAC – Boise

national champs, Bama over undefeated Nebraska. Boise is either 12-0 or 11-1. either way, they miss out due to undefeated bama and nebraska…

kellen moore for heisman if boise beats VT. if VT wins, could very will be ryan williams, the dion lewis for Pitt if they do well, or Jake Locker/Andrew Luck if Washington/Stanford does well. it wont be an SEC player, ask charles woodson/peyton manning why…

no. way. and yeah i’m sure some boise fans will complain in that event, but it’d be a better outcome that cacophony of outrage we’d see if a 12-0 ohio state got snubbed instead (even with their dismal BCSCG record. osu would have the better claim…)

Nebraska and Bama are both in AQ conferences

they would absolutely beat out Boise if all teams were undefeated or had 1 loss.

either Wisconsin or Iowa wins B10

and Texas beats Nebraska again for B12 championship. Oregon St may well be the best team in the Pac10, but no one goes undefeated in conf play out there, and they’ve got Boise and TCU on the road, so I think Oregon sneaks ahead, but no one will care b/c they won’t be very good either. FSU vs. Miami will decide the ACC.

Texas is the sleeper in the B10 south.

They are pretty much in the same boat as OU. Lost a lot of guys from both sides of the ball and big time contributers to boot..The Big 12 should be a lot of fun to watch this year.

I really don't get the Nebraska love this year.

Last year’s offense (almost all of which returns) was absolutely anemic, and their defense is without last year’s best player in college football. I know the hype is partly because Texas and OU are in rebuilding years, but I’ve seen them crack the top 5 in some places.

Excuse me while I whip this out.

This:

ACC
Atlantic- FSU
Coastal- Va Tech

highlights one thing to me, and that is the fact that I have absolutely no idea who is in what division in the ACC. This despite the fact that I (sort of) live in ACC territory (southeast Florida). Obviously I know the SEC’s divisions like the back of my hand, but I have no clue about the ACC’s, and I don’t really care. Someone could post them now and I would look at them and then forget them tomorrow. Congrats on that successful expansion a few years back, ACC!

Sorry, no numbers or elaborate prognostications here

let week 1 go by and I’ll enlighten you all. I have the DVR linked to my network….I also have this neat third-party program for managing said DVR. This week, I will be able to record all the games I want to see(save Bama, of course) and peruse them at my leisure. Then I’ll better know who/where/when. Otherwise, for the sake of the peanut gallery, here goes:

SEC west: Bama
SEC east : Florida or SC
 SEC Champ : Bama

ACC coastal:VT
ACC atlantic: FSU

Big 10 OSU or Iowa

Big 12 Nebraska

Until I see some football played, the rest is an unknown. To be honest, Iowa may be the darkest horse in the land right now. Although they have more team speed issues than any SEC squad.
