Multiple ESPN sources are claiming that the new Big Ten divisions will be split as follows:

Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan State, Northwestern and Minnesota.

And Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Indiana and Illinois.

Presumably, the schedule would be set like the SEC's with annual cross-division rivalry games. Frankly, splitting Wisconsin from Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska makes less sense to me than splitting Ohio State and Michigan.

osu and michigan split

as i understand it, the rationale being offered is that a michigan vs ohio state big televin title game is the penultimate wet dream for the big televin power brokers. so thats why its being set up this way.

Ironically, by my understanding...

…that is one of the main reasons Alabama and Tennessee were separated w/the SEC division split. We all know how that worked out… 18 conference championship games, they haven’t met there yet.
