Tribute to "Freshmans"

Once upon a time there was a thread on Roll Bama Roll called "Freshmans." It started as humble fanpost offered up by some newbie but it's fame grew quickly as one and all recognized its greatness. Soon it had dozens of comments and its fame had spread far and wide. Then, our not-so-benevolent dictator Todd recognized the threat it posed to our fair site and killed it with his mighty mod powers. Many were crushed by the blow but the legend of "Freshmans" lived on. Even today the story of its greatness is whispered among the old timers and retold to newbies one and all.

This is not the greatest thread in the history of Roll Bama Roll! Oh no! It's a tribute

FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

As a side note, I read that post one day when I couldn't comment

and by the time I could comment it had been removed.

I don’t think I can adequately express the disappointment that caused me.

You guys ought to make the author of “The Freshmans” a RBR Author. Heck, at least give him a job in content control. This site’ll be the “Jersey Shore” of blogs in no time.

He will rock you...he will roll you...come on, come on, come on...all day, all night, you'll feel...my heat...feel, feel, feel, feel, feel...feel my heat!

+ eleventy billion...

We had the beginnings of another Freshmans last night, that somehow got mod’d down the memory hole.

I wish I could have printed it out, so I could scan it and then relive its glory....

then have Todd have to retake it down…

Someday I'll tell my grandkids

I remember...

…that thread. It was written right around the time I joined and I thought, “God, I better not post anything, these guys will slaughter me”. Then I realized that if I don’t say things like “The Freshmans” , I would be alright.

That post...

…will live forever in our memories.

Rest in peace, freshmans, rest in peace.

I came for the Freshmans

and commented for the Tenacious D quote…

"So I want everybody to think here for a second, how much does this game mean to you? 'Cause if it means something to you, you can't stand still. You understand? You play fast! You play strong! You go out there and dominate the man you're playing against, and you make his ass quit! That's our trademark! That's our M.O.... as a team! That's what people know us as!" - Coach Nick Saban before the 2008 LSU game.

BTW

I must have missed the thread where Todd went off on Slowhand Row. What was that all about? Link?

I started an argument with Pete Holiday, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.

by rolltidefromaz on Sep 18, 2010 9:30 PM CDT reply actions

i cant remember what it was called

something like “lol at barners on al.com arent they stupid?” he then went on to ask everyone to link to a stupid comment made by a barner on al.com or something equally as stupid. to which nearly everyone replied “you’re god damned imbecile”. Slow hand got upset, Todd actually stepped in and was being nice, slow hand snapped at todd, todd threatened him, slow hand said something else, then was gone forever.

And Todd said, "Let there be bannage." And there was. And it was good.

I think it might’ve actually been TET that he linked to. And his comment was basically, “they think they’re going to be good this year. I went over there and told them they’re not. They are so dumb. Waste of the interwebz.” (paraphrase)

Pretty dumb post.

oh, it's still there

the legend still exists for all to see

Is it wrong that I miss Slow Hand?

His posts were like the crosswords in People Magazine, and will be sorely missed.

Our lives are the poorer for his absence.

except that it was likely him who was rec'ing the fanposts

and no, i have no basis for that assertion, just a solid hunch

We definitely

now suffer from a dearth of comments involving overuse of ellipses.

Remember folks…three dots is an ellipse. Two or four dots means you are a dumbass.
