Well that sucks!
I graduated last year and decided to stick around and get an additional masters degree. However because my program is all online, I am not considered a "student" for ticket purposes. Well, that didn't bother me too much because the Fetching Mrs. Bumpjon is also a student. She bought tickets and was going to allow me to use them.
Well, we just found out that because one of the Fetching Mrs. Bumpjon's classes was switched from a regular in-class class to an online class (no fault of her own, the prof's decision) she is no longer a "student" for ticket purposes and they took her tickets away. On top of it all, nobody knows how to get us our money back.

Since your tickets
were deducted from your student account it will have credit for said tickets next billing cycle.

When I read the title....
I thought the Dareus verdict came down and it wasn’t good. Do we give egocentric vaccines on this site?

CRAP. I didn’t even think of that, sorry about the title.
And, just because you are not interested doesn’t mean that nobody else is. There is no law that says we can only post stuff that skycaster is interested in. If you got a beef with me because you don’t like what I have posted in the past, just friggin’ ignore it.
That's a brilliant idea...
IGNORED.
Sorry for the harshness, it’s just the whole “SJSU – SJS” thing that would never stop has worn my patience then.

How does the system at UA
work for students getting tickets? At UF they have a lottery.
Roll Tide!
Pretty much...
First come first serve, but of course seniors come first and you have to have an hour minimum.
A horse is a horse of course of course his name is Mr. Ed; unless he's donkey then of course his name is Tim.
It's a little different now.
They now have an opt-in period to gauge interest by groups of students based on a certain number of hours. Then they allot a certain percentage of tickets to each group. Then each group is given a date/time to buy tickets on a first come first served basis. It’s a huge pain.
so if you are a student
and want a ticket can you get one? Or is there a chance that you could want one and not be able to get it?

Yeah,
because they devoted some of the new south end zone to student tickets I think most every upper class student that really wanted them got them although I’m not sure if the 5000+ new Freshmen got half the games or all the games.
However, if student was not paying attention, forgot what day to go on line etc., then their slackness was rewarded with no tickets.

From what I understand the freshman and first year graduate students are still getting half-season packages.
That's what I heard.....
I was thinking that maybe some groups got four games and some got three games……Thank God for my dad and his 35 year Tide Pride obsessive donations…….
I like it this way
You don’t have the website flooded with traffic from the entire student body all at once. I just had to compete with other grad students for mine and it was super easy.

Watch out – the school is not required to refund the tickets, and has been known not to in such cases (personal experience). You may be out of luck. Since UA receives federal funding, they aren’t required to obey bait-and-switch laws in the state (educational institutions have complete immunity). Be persistent, and you may annoy it out of them, but you have no legal recourse in this state to get your money back.
Uh, that doesn’t sound right. You may have been screwed. This isn’t a bait a switch scenario, it’s a “they took my money and didn’t give me anything in return” scenario. I don’t think the school can make a representation (the Fetching Mrs. Bumpjon is eligible to buy ticket) knowing that it is false (they knew the Fetching Mrs. Bumpjon’s schedule prior to the ticket purchase) knowing that we would rely upon it and cause us to change our position (buy a ticket we were not eligible for). I can probably state it in breach of contract terms as well. In either case, I doubt that we will have any difficulty getting our money back. That is not the point though.
Unfortunately, they can. It’s called 11th Amendment Immunity in some law circles. Not only is UA federally protected if they choose to keep the money, they’re protected by our state government, too, which has given educational and charitable institutions full immunity when they receive state funding. The only way to go after them is if they violate a constitutional right or violate some federal tort acts.
You assume that the school is liable to their contracts. They’re not. For example, my wife had a contract with Auburn for a scholarship. She fulfilled her end, but the school accidentally reallocated the funds to someone else. Instead of fixing it, they hid behind their ch. 11 immunity and forced us to pay the entire bill. You as an individual must keep your end of the contract, but schools here in Alabama are not required to do so. Note that I used Auburn as a mere example because it’s more personal to my family- the UA system has been doing the same thing lately and I have proof of that, too.
That was Auburn
what do you expect? I’d be totally shocked if they did not refund your ticket money on your student account. For example I know a student that got sick (as he had to have surgery) and he had to drop out of school for that sememster after the add drop date etc. and they refunded all his tution money. So i can’t see them keeping $45.
And if they did not it is an oversight and a phone call should straighten it out.

First of all, just because you cannot sue a state in federal court you are not without recourse. Secondofly, most states have waived SI for torts (fraud and/or conversion) and many waive waived SI fort contracts with the state so it is possible that Alabama has (I’ll have to look that up). Number three, if they haven’t waived SI I could always initiate an administrative action with the Alabama Board of Adjustment.
I'm in the same situation...
except I did not buy tickets. I was told I was ineligible to purchase.
I did find an option that allows you to pay like $150 athletic fee which gives you the option to buy tickets like the rest of the on campus students.
But yes, online graduate students are not eligible without first paying this fee.

It’s more like $290. But I also heard that you are still ineligible to buy tickets but you can have other students transfer tickets to you like any other student that did not buy tickets.
Ok, I've been a student for just over a year
and haven’t looked into it since. Sounds like the price and stipulations changed a bit.
