Wouldn't we all love a playoff? Here's mine.

So here’s my theory for a college football playoff: If you win your conference, you should have a shot at the big game.  Do I think that the smaller conference champs will stand a chance at making it?  But, at least that will get rid of any wining because they can’t help what conference they’re in (Boise).  After the 11 conference champs are included, that leaves 5 spots for at large teams.  Just go off of whatever poll you like to pick the next highest ranked teams and add them to the field…the BCS rankings would be just fine with me.  Seeds will be given based on current rankings.  In this scenario, the Boise States and TCUs (as well as the Houstons and Troys) of the world would get their chance at the big boys.  With the explanation out of the way, this would be the way the field looked if it were selection time today.  For what it’s worth, I got my rankings off of College Football News ( because I have liked them for a long time and they rank all 120 teams, allowing me to seed the smaller conference champs.

1.       Ohio State (Big Ten)

2.       Bama (SEC)

3.       Boise St. (WAC)

4.       Oregon (PAC 10)

5.       Nebraska (Big 12)

6.       Florida (at large)

7.       Stanford (at large)

8.       TCU (MWC)

9.       Wisconsin (at large)

10.   Arkansas (at large)

11.   Oklahoma (at large)

12.   Miami (ACC)

13.   West Virginia (Big East)

14.   Houston (CUSA)

15.   Toledo (MAC)

16.   Troy (Sun Belt)

With that lineup we would be able to set up a playoff scenario as follows:

1 Ohio State vs. 16 Troy --------1vs8                                                          3 Boise vs. 14 Houston

8 TCU vs. 9 Wisconsin                                                                 3vs6-----6 Florida vs. 11 Oklahoma

4 Oregon vs. 13 WVU ------4vs5                                                                 2 Bama vs.  15 Toledo

5 Nebraska vs. 12 Miami                                                             2vs7-----7 Stanford vs. 10 Arkansas

And so on....That is of course how it would look with no upsets.  If you’re bored at work like me feel free to think about it and try to decide who you would take to win it all in this scenario.  I’ll update this weekly as the season progresses and changes are sure to be made every week.  Gotta love football season!  RTR!
