Week One Open Thread: Early Afternoon Edition
After some snoozers and a highly entertaining mess in Gainesville to start the day, we've got a few decent selections for the 2:30 slate in Purdue/ND, Kentucky/Louisville, and UConn/Michigan. Comment away.

besides looking terrible I wouldn’t discount them so quickly. I suspect they will pick it up in the next few weeks. Now if played next week I’d think we win easily.

I'm wondering if
all the PSU passing today is an indication that they plan to pass the ball a lot against Bama. Maybe they used today to get ready to totally test our secondary next Sat. It would not be a bad plan.
But for a team that I thought would just run, run, run—they did not do it today. Maybe they figure without Dareus they can have success throwing.
As much as I hate Auburn I hate Tenn. that much more.
I just cannot see it...
I think they try to run it right at us, for a variety of reasons. I think they were just trying to get a true freshman some snaps today.

I think that is probably the reason
Get the kid involved as much as possible before he has to play in T-town.
It is smart to see what he does at game speed
The assumption is that T-town games speed will be faster. If he can’t cut against YSU, then they know how conservative they’ll have to be
Barron would have three picks
Against a qb who heaves the ball deep middle every time he’s pressured

ESPN3.com is available at no charge to fans who receive their high-speed internet connection from an ESPN3.com affiliated internet service provider. ESPN3.com is also available to fans that access the internet from U.S. college campuses and U.S. military bases.
Your current provider falls outside of these categories. Here’s how you can get access to ESPN3.com.

Have I mentioned I'm not a fan of point spreads?
Counting the Illinois/Mizzou game now, I’m 3-0 straight up and 0-3 against the spread.
So if a guy was gonna play Trent Richardson for fantasy today....
how would his chances look? Is he gonna gt the bulk of the carries with MI out?
Awesome..
But I do send my best to Mark Ingram. Hope you guys get him back and healthy soon. Best wishes from a Bronco when you guys get a chance to hammer our annual punching bag today. Roll Tide.
thanks, that was class....
I will be pulling for Va. Tech, but here’s hoping everyone comes out safe and sane after the trip to D.C.

if you watch the game
I will be the guy in the full suit of chainmail armor and BSU tunic.. We’ll see if they let my nerf sword into the stadium. I was in the Marines with a hard core Bama fan and alumnus and he represented the state and the school well. Always will have a soft spot for the Tide.
Dude, I think once Trent gets a couple TD's and over 100 yrds,
Im all about the Eddie Lacy Express….Free Eddie Lacy! Turn the kids loose….let the kid eat….

My uneducated guess...
…would be that he gets a decent amount of carries up front, but (assuming the game goes as expected) Lacy and Goode take the majority of carries in the second half. I’m sure, just in case Ingram won’t be back for next week, we’re going to preserve Richardson as much as possible for Penn State.

Floyd just fumbled the ball while trying to scamper into the endzone. Purdue ball instead of Notre Dame touchdown. =)
It's too good to be true...
Last time they both had good drives going at the same time; both ended in disaster. =/

it's quiet because of these games suck...
and, truthfully, ours will tonight as well ;)

i agree
These are satisfying, just on a different level—not quite as nice as, say, beating down tx in january, but satisfying nonetheless—getting to see freshmen, backups, etc. is always good. And, for goodness’ sake, it’s Bama Football!

And that's how you do it UConn...
Not another fucking pass….just line up and hit these fuckers. Last night, one of our local HS powers (hadn’t lost in two years), lost to a team from Utah…who lined up, ran the option and rattled off 26 unanswered.

Alabama football....The only addiction God wholeheartedly approves of..
UConn converted a fourth down on the 8 yard line.
Then fumbled.
If I'm wearing a turban, it means Auburn is playing Iraq.
UConn went for it on 4th & inches, inside the Michigan 10 yd line...
Got the first down, then proceeded to fumble the ball.
Same thing happens to me every time I play NCAA 11 on Heisman difficulty.

Purdue finally gets a TD...
…immediately followed by a dumbass flip into the endzone, which will cost them on the ensuing kickoff. 20-12 ND.
ND starts their drive on Purdue's 41.
Thanks to Marve’s flip. And porous special teams coverage as well but, whatever.

ND goes three and out...
It’ll be Purdue ball, down by 8, with 9:47 remaining.

TD Jax St. about to go for 2
Ole Miss should have stuck with Stanley, he has looked better than Masoli and they have bogged down on offense.
And who said OM was going to finish last?
this guy!

holy crap. just saw the score of the ole miss game
been keeping up with what yall have been saying, but i didnt know it was that bad
two point conversion no good for Jax St...
Caught the pass in the back of the endzone, but a miniscule amount of his toe brushed out of bounds when he came down and the ref caught it.
Wait
I went to the gym…what happened to Masoli???
Ole Miss rubbin' off on him.
