KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl and an assistant have been contacted by the NCAA about possible recruiting violations, according to a person familiar with the situation.
The NCAA is looking into possible excessive contact with recruits, the person told The Associated Press on Thursday night on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, which was first reported by recruiting website Volquest.com.

Does anyone have any
idea why so many, and why now? I’m all for enforcement and proper punishments, but this just seems like overkill. Has there ever been a period where there was this much going on?

I think it's just a domino effect for the most part...
… but the UT deal is clearly something started by Kiffin’s antics, and it’s only gone further from there.

It’s been pointed out, I think by the former bylaw blog, that the agent stuff looks like a relatively new arm of the NCAA finally getting a critical mass of information about how the system works and being able to finally start actually using it.
This is clearly because, now that fulmer’s gone, the NCAA no longer has to abide by their gentleman’s agreement to ignore infractions there. /5026’d
