A lot of "surprises" with AU recruiting
The post about Cam Newton's JUCO coach mentioning that Auburn coaches Thigpen and Roof were surprised to find out Cam Newton was committing to Auburn. It made me think of a few other surprises.
My co-worker's uncle is a big booster at Auburn. Anyway, he invited my co-worker to the Tiger Tales dinner held this past spring. The dinner was a chance for the coaches to tell tales about each recruit in the 2010 class and how they came about recruiting them. During the course of the evening Trooper Taylor also told about the commitment of Spencer Region and how it was a surprise to the coaching staff when he committed.
Funny story huh?
Then you have the story of Cory Lemonier who gave his commitment on National Signing Day to what appeared to be a very surprised Auburn coaching staff.

The most recent surprise came when 5* Russellville RB/LB Brent Calloway decommitted from Alabama and committ to the Auburn coaching staff that was currently preparing for a the BCSNG in Glendale, AZ. Calloway's (and his family's) stoic appearance as he actually verbalized his decision seemed to suggest something deeper may be at play but who knows. I guess this all could be chalked up to coincidence but it just really seems like the Auburn coaching staff gets surprised a lot when it comes to getting huge commitments in recruiting. I don't know, almost like someone is delivering these prospects to the coaches so they can always claim no knowledge of any nefarious dealings that may have taken place.

It's God blessing them.

I do think Trooper Taylor knows something,
but the others may not.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Any coach who doesn't know
sure isn’t making an effort to find out either

Well, that is part of the plan.
Cam didn’t know so how can you punish Cam.

i really hate the
‘my co-worker’s brother is a booser’s dog groomer and she said’ stories.
That white stuff on the top of chickencrap...... is chickencrap.
Agreed.
And Spencer Region is class of 2011, not 2010. He has not signed with AU yet. If the AU coaches truly commented on his recruitment (which they almost surely did not), then it needs to be reported to the NCAA as a violation.
QUACK QUACK!!
I would be surprised to hear that occurred as well. Then again, it did take place at a dinner for big-time boosters, so maybe the thought was they were among friends, so no surprises would be expected.

Never said Spencer Region was in the 2010 class...
…I said Trooper Taylor brought him up during the course of the dinner. Sorry for your confusion, but, it was right after Spencer Region had announced so I guess Trooper thought it was relevant enough to talk about at the dinner.
That wasn't his point.
Trooper could not have discussed Spencer without committing a violation.

so are you trying to report a violation now?
That white stuff on the top of chickencrap...... is chickencrap.
Well actually I was pointing out both that it was a violation,
AND that I thought it was a factual error in the post. I missed the “also” in the second sentence here:
The dinner was a chance for the coaches to tell tales about each recruit in the 2010 class and how they came about recruiting them. During the course of the evening Trooper Taylor also told about the commitment of Spencer Region
QUACK QUACK!!
And he could at least get his facts straight
Corey Lemonier wasn’t a surprise. I don’t remember whether he was expected to sign with Auburn or if it was a toss-up, but it definitely wasn’t a “surprise” like the author said.

take a look at the link that I posted...
…it takes you to a pic of chiz and troop’s reaction to the lemonier announcement. does that really look like 2 coaches that were expecting a guy to commit to them?
Do you think they would have all been out in the hall
with cameras on them, if they didn’t think they had at least a decent shot of getting him?

If you'll notice though...
…I said my coworker was at the dinner so it’s a first hand account for him and he’s never given me any reason not to trust him.
Unless it was a murder mystery dinner.

Maybe next time you should post a disclaimer like:

I would appreciate it, thanks.

now that would be fun.......
after he said in his press conference that auburn would always be home, he does a 60 Minutes interview and says he just couldn’t stand the lie anymore…….maybe they could run it with the Eric Ramsey clip from a few years ago preceding it……

I hear
Scam has a serious back injury that will hurt his draft status. If thats true I am sure we will be seeing him next year at Auburn. By the way….my friends’s aunt, who is Scam’s dentist’s higenist told her …..so I believe it.
