How many commits does Bama have?

Rivals lists 21 and ESPN has it at 23. Rivals does not list Wilson Love or Ronald Carswell. Anyone have a definite word on this?I know these sites use different rating methods but I have never noticed them to be off on the number of commits this late in the season. Maybe some of you know what is going on. It might be an oversite by rivals, and they have Bama with the #1 class.

Well...

You’re right as the two which make the difference are Love and Carswell. Both were 2010 signees who greyshirted. I don’t think Rivals counts greyshirts.

Now of those 23:

Sannon Brown is going JUCO – so he’s off the list for counting against this year
Daryl Collins is reportedly taking a greyshirt – doesn’t count against this year

So you are back to 21 with 4 spots in play (I say this because I have never seen Saban take less than 25) Cyrus K., Clowney and Crowell could take 3.

If things go as expected you get one of those (Cyrus) – so 3 spots in float.

High drama this week barring Clowney, who is too special to announce on signing day. He has to have a day all to himself – to commit to the Gamecocks.

Talent can only get you so far. Give me a player who may have less talent, but has the heart of a champion and the will to succeed.

Thanks for the clarification

I went back and looked at the 2010 roster on al.com and saw both Carswell and Love listed. I wonder about Cyrus and thought the coaches might have taken Douglas because they were concerned that Cyrus might not commit and they needed a solid OT. It will be great to get him, I just hope he doesn’t go to the barn. Clowney will go SC and he is enjoying the attention and adding to the drama.

I wouldn't be surprised if Cyrus went to AU.

They’re putting together one of the best OL classes in recent memory and they all have a chance to come in an play. But he seems like a smart kid so I think he’ll weigh all the options better than a lot of these prospects do.

Sports are a culture's way of getting at 5 or 6 great men... and then assuring that their greatness remains petty.

Plus Auburn's a family.

As opposed to… you know… his brother.

Death, Taxes, and Tim Duncan.

Cy doesn't want to compete with his brother,

so he goes to Awburn?

I’ll believe it when I see it, as that would be a pretty deliberate slap-in-the-face. He’s a Bama man, people.

Charles Martel, Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, Raymond IV the Count of Toulouse, Godfrey of Bouillon, Baldwin of Boulogne, Henry II, Richard the Lionheart, St. Joan of Arc and Napoleon Bonaparte -- all of good stock.

It worked for the Pouncys

I'm not saying it always works
