The University of Alabama made Kirby Smart one of the highest-paid assistant coaches in the country Wednesday by approving a raise that increases the salary of the Crimson Tide's defensive coordinator to $850,000 per year and extends his contract for three seasons. Strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran also received a raise Wednesday, also for the second time in less than a year, taking his salary to $290,000 for 2011 and 2012. His salary will increase to $310,000 in 2013.
