Spurrier press conference
If you haven't seen todays press conference of Spurrier it is hilarious. Not what he said exactly but the fact that he did it, knowing the Garcia suspension was coming. He played it off on some reporter who wrote negative things and untrue things about the program. As Scarbinsky points out (and I can't believe I am agreeing with him) Bama is so much better off with Saban than Spurrier. I think the 'ole ball coach is losing it. I just hate that Garcia's one good game was against us. He played like Aaron Rogers against us and like Steven Garcia the rest of the time.

meh
the way it’s described in the article is far from my perception from watching the video. he didn’t seem to me like he’s off his rocker. sure it’s a bit odd, but i’m in favor of the media being put in its place.
Wars may be fought with weapons, but they are won by men. It is the spirit of men who follow and of the man who leads that gains the victory. - George S. Patton
It's certainly odd.
Especially if this really is an old beef about something that happened last spring. But one thing I know, and that is that good head coaches have reasons behind everything that they do, and as much as I dislike Spurrier, he ain’t dumb, and I’m sure he had a very good reason for handling it that way. With the dismissal of Garcia happening the same day, I imagine he wanted the writer put in his place and discredited a bit before he began writing wild things about Garcia’s getting kicked off the team. If that was his motivation, I’d say it was a pretty smart move for Spurrier.

I've heard that the article that was originally published back in the Spring....
was re-published on Oct 5th. I don’t have any doubt that Spurrier is making a strategic move, but he probably wanted a reason to boot this reporter out as well.
That would make sense.

Damn...
If Scarbinsky said we’re better off with Saban, we should him with Spurrier immediately.

I'm happy with Clowney's decision. He took his showboating, big-mouth immaturity to a wannabe program. They deserve each other more than any of us could have possibly imagined.
Call me “extreme,” but when you are not even a freshman and you bad-mouth and insult a coach (any coach at any school), you don’t belong on a team that values maturity and development in its players.

Not sure what you're talking about
but maybe this part has something to do with it:
not even a freshman
God bless our Dark Lord.
After Clown...ey signed committed to the Cocks...
He went on a negative tangent towards Saban during an interview. Called him a little man who was talking so much he almost fell asleep. Beyond immature. I hope we play them this year.
Talent can only get you so far. Give me a player who has less talent, but the heart of a champion and the will to succeed.
Sounds like he chose wisely to me
If Saban talking to him during recruiting bored him, no way he’d have the mental capacity to operate in our defense.
Sorry Jadevon, you had real talent, but the NFL knows talent won’t get you anywhere without the ability to learn.

Thanks for clarifying, Bamapride.
If I remember correctly, Clowney had his moment of temporary insanity before he attended a single class at SoCar.

Well, from what I've read
Clowney is no genius. I can almost guarantee you that all he can do is rush from the edge. No way, in my opinion after seeing him play, that he could make a read and adjust on-the-fly…god forbid he should come to Bama and lower himself to learning to be a complete player.
"...because you've got your mind right, and that's the way we like it." Nick Saban
Spurrier is losing it.
He decided to air his grievances with that reporter the day after dismissing Garcia from the team? Of course it was a distraction and an amateurish one at that.
You are on notice, OLD Ball Coach: you are being “processed.”
Does it count as being "Processed"
when Alabama didn’t actually beat the team the last time they played? I mean, I’m drinking the Kool-Aid that Saban is putting other coaches out of work, and all, but that seems a bit of a stretch to me.

Maybe for that game
Spurrier was John Henry, Saban was the locomotive, and Garcia was the hammer.

The Process is in Progress
It will happen. Just give it some time.
Talent can only get you so far. Give me a player who has less talent, but the heart of a champion and the will to succeed.
Be patient, RTRB.
I pity the lining of OBC’s stomach the next time he is unfortunate enough to play Alabama. After their once in a generation victory in 2010, the expectations rose and now the fans & media are actually expecting something of the Gamecocks. I don’t see that one working out well in the end for Steve.

Spurrier is Darth Visor after all
He can’t be killed so much as turned back to good side of the Force.
