Alabama has apparently been one of the obstacles to Missouri's joining the SEC in that it wants to preserve its annual rivalries with both Auburn and Tennessee. It's widely believed that Missouri joining the conference will push Auburn into the Eastern division, thus causing the problem with our two biggest rivals being in the other division. There has been chatter about Missouri basically being assigned to the East no matter how ridiculous that may be geographically.
