West Virginia vs. Syracuse, and What That Means to Teams That Matter (i.e. Alabama)

Ok, I know; the Dark Lord of the Process, Darth Saban, would be disappointed in me for thinking about a game other than Tennessee.  But thankfully for our boys in crimson, my scrawny frame has not been pressed into service for the University of Alabama football team.  As such, I'm allowed all the meaningless speculation my heart could possibly desire.

So, Syracuse is embarrassing West Virginia right now, one of two "quality wins" recorded this season by LSU (or, as my grandmother insists on calling them, "Lucy").  Much has been made about the three ten-thousandths of a point (0.0003) that separate Lucy and 'Bama right now in the BCS polls.  Which means, even if WVU pulls out a surprise in the second half and squeaks out a win, LSU's about to take a hit in the computers.  Meaning, even if the Bayou Bengals survive their visit from the Barn, the computers still might push Alabama to the top of the charts.

Does it matter?  Of course not.  Is it fun to think about?   On a Friday with nothing else going on, why not.
