Big AL has a gal
I was at the TENN game and noticed at some point Big AL was walking around with a girl Big AL or should we say Alice. How long has she been around? Or is it a new thing just getting started. Any info would be great my kids are bugging the crap outta me bout her. Are we trying to copy the gator gal mascot in Florida? Thanks for any info and now I should have seventy five words in.ok thanks

They made one a few years ago.
I forget exactly how long ago it was that “she” premiered, but I don’t think “she” has been at most of the games.
I was there too
She appeared when they started playing “Sweet Caroline”, so I’m pretty sure that has a lot to do with it
WHY
are we playing “Sweet Caroline” as well as all this other piped-in music in the stadium this year? I remember when the Million Dollar Band would play during timeouts. I’d much rather hear them than the same crap everybody else plays over the PA system. It’s almost like Major League Baseball has taken over our stadium operations.

I'm fine with Sweet Caroline for now
People seem to get a kick out of singing along, although to me the novelty seems to be wearing off somewhat. Dixieland Delight and Sweet Home Alabama are the traditional songs we play over the PA though and would love to keep them. I prefer to have the MDB play during timeouts too rather than blast in new music.
"Traditional"
Unless I just missed it, I don’t remember Dixieland Delight ever being played when I was in school in the 90s. Seems to me like it started around ‘03 or ’04. I think it’s entertaining, but still relatively new.
God bless our Dark Lord.
Back in the day...
…the only songs I remember singing were the fight song, Rammer Jammer, the alma mater, and Old MacDonald (during Auburn’s alma mater at Legion Field)….

Sweet Home was always played in pre-game, but only once about 30 minutes before kickoff.
God bless our Dark Lord.
Last couple of times I was in the stadium
It was this way too. Once before kickoff and then not again. I do remember several years ago that they did it again somewhere right around the beginning of the 4th, but haven’t witnessed that in a while.

I should say that back in the day the cheerleaders had their own mic and speakers (do they still do that?)
and , IIRC, Sweet Home was played by them, not by the general stadium PA.
God bless our Dark Lord.
I was at the Tenn game and was wondering when the Sweet Caroline shit started.
Mrs. Big AL is quite cute, but singing Sweet Caroline was corny. Sorry, just MHO.

We'd rather play for you during timeouts, promise.
But it’s not always our call.

Oh, I can definitely back up this statement
It was really annoying when/if we wanted to play something and we had to wait for a video or music being played during the two years I was in the MDB.
I know I saw Big Alice at a gymnastics meet at least 10 years ago.
She was never a huge deal, but it’s been around awhile
My wife says she come out to all the Gymnastics events “Alice” and she doesn’t usually come to football games. Even she said she doesn’t know why she came out.

I'm pretty sure I remember there being a lady pachyderm at times in the 90s.
God bless our Dark Lord.
I don't think he was asking about your college girlfriend....

She was there to help celebrate the gymnastics team receiving their championship rings at half time (which is also when “Sweet Caroline” was played).
Books for Bama students: My E-Cubby - UA
They played it at Homecoming also.
It’s possible that that was when the softball team was introduced on the field, but that would seem extra cheesy.
God bless our Dark Lord.
