All I want for Christmas...

Many thanks and Merry Christmas to the RBR editors and family. Another great year of content and posts.

Since we're sending lists to Santa, I wanted to go ahead and put mine in the mix - RBR style. Feel free to post your own.

1) Another BCS Championship - yes we lost to LSU in the regular season (which still hurts btw). So Santa could you make the following happen to ensure a victory?

a. Cade Foster channels Van Tiffin and learns to kick balls into the endzone and through the uprights, even from 40+ yards away.

b. Jim McElwain and AJ have the best night of their career, calling and executing the right plays at the right time.

c. Trent runs for 100+ yds while gaining more than 150+ yards of total offense.

d. The D plays like they have all season (excluding the game against GA Southern)

Star-divide

2. We hire the best OC EVAH!!!

3. The Meltdown threads continue their epic quality, causing me to LOL involuntarily. Unfortunately for the Longhorns, this translates to more losses for them bc their meltdowns are LEGENDARY.

4. Fitty (aka 5026) becomes less paranoid in his Auburn prediction next year, yet we still win.

5. Spock gets more furloughs and, as a result, is able to come to more Bama games (Jerry world?)

6. Bama has a strong season next year despite losing almost all of their defensive starters and OC - including mandatory wins against any teams wearing orange and Michigan (got to maintain the Big 10 beatdown streak)

7. Offensive dominance - AJ, the O-line, receivers and Eddie Lacey are able to carry the team to victory

8. SPECIAL TEAMS - PLEASE!! Santa I know this is a big request but it would ease my heart rate a bit if we could:

a. Kick it in the end zone and uprights on a more consistent basis.

b. Have long AND high punts pinning our opponents deep in their territory

c. Cover the kicks and punts for little/no return yardage

d. Knock the SNOT out of them AFTER they catch the ball, AND ONLY if they don't call for fair catch.

9. Another great recruiting class to keep us in the championship hunt

10. Good tidings of great cheer for everyone!

Have a Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year!

Don't ask for much, do ya?

However, I would have Cade channel Janokowski, and Spock get a full Pardon!

All I want is..............

Lets see………. #14 to start with on the 9th!!!!!!!

Dee Hart to be 100% next year! I think he will be a “sparkplug” in 2012!

Trent (and all the juniors) to say…."Lets do a Tebow, and come back to try for a repeat!!!!

ROLL TIDE!!!!!

By the way….. to the poster woried about next year…don’t 9 to 10 wins and another AUBURN #$$@ woopin!!!! is in the bank!!!!!

by NCBAMAFA on Dec 14, 2011 11:28 AM CST reply actions

OOPS!!!

About forgot….Seen the kid we have coming in to kick next year? A 3 star kicker!!! Scout (or rivals..don’t remember) say he is the best they have seen coming out of HS ever….yes EVER!!!! We can dream he is the truth… can’t we……

by NCBAMAFA on Dec 14, 2011 11:32 AM CST up reply actions

WELL.............

He is a kicker…….I think that is like 5 stars for a position player. I may be wrong, but that is what I have been told. He won his high school state championship this year with a 49 yard kick I think I read. He kicked 3 or 4 in the game ranging from 38 to 49 I believe. His BIO reads he can also kick it out of the endzone most of the time.

WAIT………are we spending time posting about a KICKER?? LMAO

True dat...

I think your star rating is based upon

your impact ability. Immediate impact at a major program should be 4-5 stars, IIRC. So why should kickers be left out? This kid is to kickers what Julio or Trent are for skill positions.

So then why is he only a 3 star?

I’m not questioning his talent, because I honestly don’t know. I’m just saying that the scouting services must not be as high on him as people are saying. And someone said that Cade was a 4 star, so they do give them. And even then it doesn’t guarantee anything.

God bless our Dark Lord.

Don't know, but there is this from Scout...
Best Class of 2012 Kicking Prospect: ADAM GRIFFITH (Calhoun H.S. – GA) Adam may be the most talented kicker that I have ever seen. He has big time leg and hits an absolutely huge ball. His field goals come off his foot like a rocket. His kickoffs are tops in the nation. Adam hit one wind-aided kickoff 90 plus yards with 4.40 second hang time. No one can match his talent.—Chris Sailer

90 yards?

Even Chuck Norris can’t kick if that far!

by AllTideUp on Dec 18, 2011 7:46 PM CST up reply actions

I agree.

I don’t know, either. I just question the how these services apply their criteria. Btw, ESPN has him at #7, while 24/7 has him at #1. Both give him *

Must be Scout.

Rivals ranks him #2 for this year.

I do want another good OC for next year. I was thinking..

Could Saban go sweet talk the OC from Wisconsin…. I know he has been talked about as a possible head coach in some places, but a move to Bama for a few years could increase that resume….. That dude sure likes to run his offence like Saban likes. IMO

God, I hope so.

I do not think we will have a hard game vs. AU in 2012.

Game is at home and AU is definitely going to be hurting on offense next year because they have recruited for Malzahn’s system and he is no longer there. Whomever they get will not be able to straighten them out. They will look like the UF offense this year when WM was trying to win his way with UM players. Doesn’t work. Under the mastermind Chizik AU is mainly an offense first school only now they have no offense identity.

But great wish list.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

by 5026 on Dec 14, 2011 1:04 PM CST reply actions

Agree 5026!!!!!

IMO AU (Bama’s little brother) is in for a bad year again. I would have never thought a Nick, and a Cam would have made that much difference. Looking back they would have lost 4-5 games without them two last year….wait….about like this year! I will give their OL a little credit too for last year. Mr. C has recruited in the top ten like Mr S the past few years…right…. why do his 4 and 5 star guys not play as wall as Bama’s….anyone want to say……coaching!!!! Another question……..why are all his coaches jumping ship? Bama wins the NC and turns around the next year and wins 10 games (should have been freakin 11)!…. 28-27 CRAP!!! That still hurts!!!! AU can’t win 8…Hell without a little luck they loose to Utah St and Miss St!!!….COACHING, COACHING, COACHING!!

by NCBAMAFA on Dec 14, 2011 1:18 PM CST up reply actions

Addition to #1...

e. No block in the back penalties.

Seriously, how can you not know you’re doing that? That was just one of many times we left points out there. Plus, I’ll never forgive so many of those same penalties that ended up costing Javy the all time NCAA punt return yards record by 9 freaking yards. NINE!!!

You had me at "ROLL TIDE"!!!

by bamavicki on Dec 14, 2011 1:08 PM CST reply actions

Rematch!!!!

I look at the game on the 5th and can’t believe how bad we looked on offence. If we convert half of those chances into points (damn field goals!!), Bama wins going away! I saw that block in the back and I cried like a baby! I knew they would call it! That shot duck Maze threw…what the HELL!!!! Then he let the DB take it from him!!! OK………..I am starting to not be able to breath now!!!! Help……….AHHHHHH! better memories from this years Iron Bowl just danced through my head…..I am better. I will be dancing in my street on the 9th baby!!! (well by the time its over it will be the early 10th in NC….Damn work the next day! I want be worth a poop that day!!!

ROL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We played tight vs. LSU

I think the hype got to us. We should be loose this time around. LSU has improved since round #1, but they are still the same team. We have not seemed to improve maybe as much as LSU but there are two big factors that will help us. First we will be game planning on D for only one qb. Lee will not see the field for this game even if he is elligblle. Second maybe, please maybe, Eddie Lacy will be healthy. I’m convinced his injury resulted in the Maze pass. Trent had run a good one and he had to have a breather, but Lacy was not 100% so we tried a trick play.

By the way, all the pressure in this game is on LSU. It is hard, real hard to finish perfect.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

by 5026 on Dec 14, 2011 1:46 PM CST up reply actions

Maybe the offense played tight, but the D to go along with Trent were legendary.

The difference in the game was just a few penalties and a few questionable play calls

by Patrick Murphy Sux on Dec 14, 2011 2:50 PM CST up reply actions

Yes I'm talking offense played tight.

The defense was about as good as they have been all year.

Don't forget two other components

1) Barrett Jones will be healthy. He was playing on one leg
2) Maze will be healthy

As is posted elsewhere...

since 1999, roughly 41% of the Conference Championship Games have been rematches, and the team that won in the regular season normally wins the rematch.

Thirteen.

by Darth Saban on Dec 17, 2011 10:19 PM CST up reply actions

Maybe I'm thinking of rematches against Saban

I remember LSU taking down UT in their rematch in 01.

by AllTideUp on Dec 17, 2011 10:50 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, but "normally" is about 2 out of 3, IIRC.

So 1 out of 3 goes the other way. AND those rematches are not necessarily matching teams that are considered to be even in strength, so it really doesn’t have any bearing on our game.

God bless our Dark Lord.

by CarrotTop4 on Dec 18, 2011 4:20 PM CST up reply actions

I think your rememberings are right...

I was just pointing out that the “it’s also hard to beat a team twice in one year” is not empirically accurate.

Wow! Not greedy are you? Or is it no faith in Santa?

No Trent coming back?
