Heisman Thoughts

Obviously, I want Trent to bring home the hardware with every fiber of my earthly being. He would be a worthy addition to the Heisman fraternity, far superior to at least a half-dozen of the jokes that have lifted the trophy in the last 20 years (Oh, looky there...Langham just picked off Gino Toretta AGAIN!!). Honestly, I expect RG3 to win it, and while disappointed, I think I'm okay with that. RG3 is a transcendent player,Baylor is NEVER going to have anything like him again, and would be at best a 3-9 team without him. His statistics are Heisman-worthy, and his character seems to be beyond impeachment. I have a big problem with Trent losing to Luck, who has done next to nothing since October and COMPLETELY fell apart in one of his two games against elite competition. A vote for Luck is a vote for the "career achievement award", which the Heisman is not supposed to be. And I have a HUGE problem with the freakin' Honey Badger even being a finalist. First of all, he's not even worthy of all-SEC honors as a cornerback...he's an average defender in one-on-one situations, behind both Kirkpatrick and Vandy's Heyward for sure. Yes, he has a knack for making big plays, but they are sporadic. He had a GREAT September, got everybody talking about him, then got suspended for smoking fake weed (yet another black mark on his career...if you're gonna roll smoke, don't smoke fake stuff!), sat out the Auburn game, and TOTALLY DISAPPEARED until the Arkansas game. Eric Reid was BY FAR a bigger factor in the 11/5 game with us. Sorry, true Heisman candidates don't get to vanish for four games, then pick back up where they left off. Anyone who votes for the Honey Badger for the Heisman needs their head examined by a medical professional. Now, some sort of special teams player of the year award...sure, he's worthy of that. But not the Heisman. No way, now how.

You forgot that that POS should have been ejected from our game for the dirty hit in which he knocked Kirkpatrick out of the game. I can’t stand that SOB.

God bless our Dark Lord.

Completely agree

But I simply cannot call that a$$wipe the Honey Badger. That is an insult to an honorable animal, who fights only to defend, who has evolved into a unique niche in the ecosystem. The true Honey Badger is not a thug, is not a self-promoter, and is a contributor to his environment. TM is just another LSWho gangsta in yellow and purple tights.

The fact that he is nominated for the Heisman is more a reflection on the media blitz side of the trophy. Just a few days ago, (it may have been that idiot on Wedtwood One) someone observed that LSU had no Trent or Luck or Ball, that it was in fact a championship team with no individual stars that carried the team. I think that actually spoke well for the team and for the Mad Hatter (who I think I have to admit is probably a better coach than I ever wanted to admit, if a bit eccentric).

I think we have TM as a candidate for Heisman, precisely because that image of an undefeated, undisputed #1 team without a Superman, just doesn’t satisfy our media hounds. Honey Badger? More like a dung beetle without the benefits. Wait, that may not be fair to the dung beetle…………

You can't win. You can't break even. You can't get out of the game.

You mean . . .

the honey badger, the animal that is known for killing even large prey by savagely attacking their genitals and then retreating to watch the animals bleed to death? I think all us guys can agree, there’s nothing more honorable than that.

You should read Robert Ruark’s The Honey Badger, as misogynistic a tome as has ever been scriber. The book’s central thesis is that women are like honey badgers.

See this link, including the charming picture: “Moreover, it has been known to attack and castrate buffallos, and there has even been reported cases of the honey badger going for humans genitals. It also has the capacity to let of stench odor like the skunk!”

I've been referring to him as the Honey Bastard.

Can we make that catch on? I want to make that catch on.

Good points by all.

I am not fan of the HB because he is dirty and he is a thug. What I hope though is that we can exploit his desire to be a star and to make something happen. Two things come to mind. First, when he lines up on the edge like he is going to come at the qb run Trent right at him. He is little and can be run over if you run right at him.

Second, line up our #7 Bell to go against him. Run a basic stop and go pattern where AJ pump fakes it to Bell, then let Bell turn on the jets and go deep. HB so wants to make an int he will bite on the fake and with Bell’s speed he should get separation and maybe a long bomb. Bottom line HB is so into himself and so wants to make plays he can be exploited. A really great defensive player is not overly agreesive but instead plays assignment football. I dount HB even knows what that is.

But, do not kick it to him because he can return some punts.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

If we try a double move against LSU

AJ will probably be decapitated.
