You can see the car, here!

Beth Hart — L.A. Song (she drank so hard the bottle ached…)

Little Richard — Money Honey
Robin Thicke — Complicated (Whatever, y’all…the man is hot.)

Mine's from the iPod this morning, rather than the work computer...

…so you’d think I could get away from the Christmas stuff. But I can explain: the Casting Crowns track is there because I synced all of their stuff to the iPod, and “Go Tell It On The Mountain” is a piano arrangement that I’ve been meaning to transcribe so I can learn to play it for next Christmas.

1. How Can I Slow Down – The Marshall Tucker Band
2. Lighter Shade Of Blue – Reba McEntire
3. Peacemaker – Cowboy Mouth
4. Go Tell It On The Mountain – Jeff Victor
5. I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing – Aerosmith
6. Money Talks – AC/DC
7. Soul To Squeeze – Red Hot Chili Peppers
8. Joy To The World – Casting Crowns
9. The Number Of The Beast – Iron Maiden
10. Cathy’s Clown – Reba McEntire

…is probably my favorite old school gossip song. I defy anyone to stand still when listening to it done properly.

Also, a double shot of the fabulous red-headed Reba never hurt anybody.

Expect Vail, only less expensive. Lots of Hollywood types. Gorgeous women. Strange liquor laws (still, but we’re working on that). If you’ve never skied or borded then you probably won’t be freaking out about the “Greatest Snow on Earth”.
Unless we get along warm spell, most resorts will still have 100" of snow by April. Our mtns have been BOMBED with snow this winter.

The "Sorry I Missed Last Week But Hey I'm Still Suffering From It Random 10"

So last Wednesday afternoon I headed down to Navarre Beach for a nice 4 day weekend. Saturday, I sat on the beach in the mid day sun for way too long. It was a very comfortable low to mid 70s with a strong, constant breeze. It was just so comfortable that I didn’t realize how much I was burning. This morning my forehead started peeling. FOR THE SECOND TIME. I attribute all of this discomfort to the RBR Random 10 gods being unhappy with me for missing a week. The good news is it actually feels like skin underneath it this time and not dried out leather. Other than being burnt so badly, not seeing either Wednesday’s or Saturday’s basketball games, and not winning the powerball, it was a pretty nice trip. Thanks for reading my blog.

tl;dr : RBR Random 10 was not happy with me missing a week.

1. The Avett Brothers – “Will You Return?”
2. Regina Spektor – “Après Moi”
3. The Dresden Dolls – “Dirty Business”
4. Sophie Hunger – “Breaking the Waves”
5. Sophie Hunger – D’Red (poor job shuffling, shuffle. also, this one isn’t in English)
6. Chief – “Breaking Walls”
7. Reckless Kelly – “Walk Out Now” (I can’t believe I can’t find a video or even just the audio of this anywhere. It’s a great song.)
8. Onda Vaga – “Lolita” (Argentinian band, I think. I downloaded an album of theirs because I liked their sound, but this is probably the one song on the album that sounds the least like the others. Bad choice, shuffle.)
9. This is the Kit – “Our Socks Forever More”
10. Explosions in the Sky – “Inside It All Feels The Same”

Forgive me for replying to myself yet again, but...

I just downloaded three albums from The Avett Brothers a week or two ago, and only got around to listening to them over the past few days. Wow. I absolutely love these guys. Of course as soon as I learn this I find out that they are playing the brand new Tuscaloosa Amphitheater on April 1st, and the show is already sold out. I’m generally pretty cheap (via being poor right now), but I’m seriously considering finding someone else who wants to go to this show and paying some ebay/etc. prices for some tickets. Anyone else love these guys? Anyone else going to that show? Anyone else want to?

Can't help with tickets, but

the Avett Brothers can hook you in a hurry, can’t they? Somebody sent me a link to Perfect Space a few months back and I spent the next three hours flipping out over them on youtube.

I'm new to MP3 Player World. Question:

How do people end up with songs on their player that they don’t like? Not being a smartass. I’m really curious.

by Bubdylan on Feb 25, 2011 7:20 PM CST reply actions

I don't generally deal with individual songs.

So when I get an album or four of a new-to-me artist I’ll just throw them all on my iPod. Sometimes there will be a few not so good songs mixed in. Also, some of these people are shuffling from their computer media library rather than their portable player of choice. It’s rare that I would ever go to the trouble of deleting something I don’t like when space is not an issue at all.

by Orlando McCain on Feb 25, 2011 8:35 PM CST up reply actions

I see.

Both of those scenarios make sense. If I experimented with more new-to-me aritists (which I should), I’m sure I’d do the same. As it is I sweat over every megabyte, shooting for the best listening I can get. I expect I’ll get tired of it eventually, but right now the thrill for me is hear my old favorites mixed around together, something most people probably got over a long time ago…

OMIGOD! It's been eons since I did an RBR Random 10

And I’ve surely missed doing so. Hopefully a “Before I Get My Saturday Night Drink On Random 10” will make up for it? But DAMN! I always do this on my iPod and, for the life of me. . . .when did I put that Bulgarian-crap on this badboy? (truth be told- it did a weirdass Dokken triple play, then a freaky Return To Forever/Steely Dan/Genesis/Kiss set where the RtF & Kiss songs were truncated. So, I decided to “forget” to write those weird ones down (happened in between Funkadelic/JA and Diane Reeves/Charles Mingus (a God) sets, respectively.

Ahem!

1. “Song of Love” – Stephen Stills
2. “Byala Stala” – Ivo Papasov & His Bulgarian Wedding Band
3. “Super Stupid” – Funkadelic
4. “Mountain Song” – Jane’s Addiction
5. “I’ll Take Care of You” – Gil Scott Heron & Jamie
6. “He’s A Tramp” – Diane Reeves
7. “Diane” – Charles Mingus
8. “Help” – Tina Turner (Beatles cover. . . .sickass dope jam by Those Damn Fine Legs)
9. “Blue Tip” – The Cars
10. “Behind Closed Doors” – Charlie Rich

On to some single malts, skirts, and hopefully someone’s kitchen floor!

Didn't mean much as far as the "crap" comment in my RBR 10

It’s just that- I’d have rather have Balkanes/Balkan (Azra song – Balkan rock band) or Kamen Kalev (awesome singer/songwriter from Bulgaria) play on my messed-up iPod-freakazoid-freak-unit!

Ivo is a serious virtuoso of the clarinet, yes? Did you and the boys from the band chat, chew, and chug all night long or what? I make it a point to never let a Gypsy buy me drink. ‘Cause, next thing you know- you find yourself all of the sudden obligated to either marry their fugly-ass-lookin’-buck-toothed sister who’s got a beard in two places OR you gotta give up your passport and any/all travelers checks. . . .for some reason or another.

Checklist to remember:

A. They never AIN’T GO NO money to buy ANYBODY drinks, let alone ONE for a knucklehead such as yourself!
B. YOU WILL GET DRUNKER than that guy from “Leaving Las Vegas”. . . .no joke
C. They are Gypsy’s YO! They love YOUR travelers checks and can sell your passport for MAD LUCIANO to one of their elders back at camp.

It’s always a “no-go” for me. But, HECK! I’ll sure cut up a rug to their jammin’. Tip ‘em a few coins for . . .whatever. (psssssst: it’s a lot like your local hoods and thugs. don’t look ‘em in the eyes, don’t at all be interested in their gab, dress, or drama. Quiet disaffection is always the way to go. . . . .unless of course . . . . .SHE’S ONE HELLUVA 4-ALARM FIRE with a perky rack and legs that go on past the sunset. That’s a whole ’nother story altogether!)
