I was just about to post this up.

Everyone must’ve stayed up late watching the bouncyhoops last night.

1. White Zombie — More Human than Human (a strong start to the Friday morning!)
2. Jimi Hendrix — The Wind Cries Mary
3. Live — The Dolphin’s Cry
4. The Dandy Warhols — Whipping Tree (great album, but this is a slow mood song)
5. Smashing Pumpkins — Muzzle
6. Stone Temple Pilots — Still Remains
7. Beck — Whiskeyclone, Hotel City 1997 (you’re not helping me stay awake here, Mr. Beck)
8. Tom Petty — House in the Woods (what can I do, what can I do but love you?  Love the Wildflowers album.)
9. Jack Johnson — The News
10.  Counting Crows — Have You Seen Me Lately? (Somewhere out in America it started to rain…  A good send off!)

Par for my course, a lot of 90s rock with just a few others sprinkled in. Sorry, no Indigo this week.  :(

Sweet mix, CarrotTop4. Not a bad song in the bunch.

Petty’s Wildflowers reeks of hurt. Follow it up with Neil Young’s Tonight’s the Night and you’ll be ready to hang yourself.

Joanna Newsom

Ys is easily one of the best albums of the 2000-2009 decade. Hope she recaptures the magic, because Have One On Me was a bit self-indulgent for my taste. Well, maybe not self-indulgent in the execution of the songs (they were all fine…with some tracks being fantastic), but a triple album is just a bit much IMO.

Way back when I was at Alabama,

my friends and I would put on “Staying Alive” and drive around the Quad. We would get cracked up at the people unintentionally walking to the beat. It was like watching a living video. It worked well with “If You Want My Body” by Rod Stewart too. We were easily amused. We also probably should not have been driving.

Yessir,

and I really wished, at some point, that Soundgarden would have taken a few of those early tunes and re-recorded them on better equipment. After they went major-label, Brendan O’Brian really captured the “heavy layering” of Thayil’s guitars. That track and “Beyond The Wheel”, along with tunes like “Hunted Down”, would’ve been even more massive, imho.
