My A-Day story....

This past Friday (April 15th) was my daughter's 7th birthday, and all she asked for was to go to her first "football game".  So at 7am on Saturday morning she woke me up with "Momma we gotta get going to A-Day, Mark Ingram is gonna be there".  After convincing her that the game didn't start til 2pm and that the Capt's ceremony was before that I got her to watch some cartoons.  Well finally after this going on every 20 mins, I got up and we got ready and headed to the stadium.  Mind you we live 5 mins from BDS and her Dad is a professor at UA, so we go by there all the time.  I have taken her to BDS before but this was the first time she had been inside.  The look on her face was priceless, she never once complained (except she thought she needed sunblock), and told me "Momma this was the best birthday ever".  What I thought made the day even more special was my Mom came down from Dora to come with us and it was the first time since my Dad passed away she had been inside BDS.  Daddy, your 3 girls had a wonderful time Saturday and thank you for taking me to my first "Red v. White" game back in 82.  Roll Tide

I'm glad you and your daughter had a good time...

I can’t wait until my son is old enough to take to his first game.

It was a woman who drove me to drink and I never got a chance to thank her.

True...

…my kids have been every year they’ve been on the planet (possibly earlier, but can’t verify that)….

Have their been years when they weren't on the planet?

Did you ever follow through on Ralph Kramden’s “one of these days” threat?

I know for certain she has been to every homecoming

since before she was born….she can tell you where the houndstooth hat comes from and who Bryant’s favorite player was….she has no idea how lucky she is….

She is set for life

Those two things, coming from a kid should assure that she will never have to pay for a soft drink anywhere! :) Well, anywhere in Alabama, anyway.

Great story.

I took my oldest daughter to her 1st Bama game, Bama vs. UT when she was 2. Just dad and daughter. We only had to drive 6 hours round trip back then. When she needed to go to the bathroom during the game I asked a stranger if she would take her in to the ladies bathroom. Looking back that might not have been the smartest thing I ever did, but now 24 years later, Roll Tide.

By the way, just by luck, that kid went to two or three Bama games every year from the time she was two until she was 11 until she saw Bama lose in person (at the stadium.) And after that she went another 5 years before seeing her second loss.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

Very cool!

My wife and I took our 17 1/2 month old daughter this year as well. She had a great time clapping when other people clapped and eating some nachos. She also got to hear her favorite song a couple times (Yea Alabama) and danced to it.
