Wesley Britt Tornado Story? Is It True?
Heard a "rumor" from one of the students working in the recovery. She said that Wesley Britt's house was flattened by the storm but Britt hid his wife and two kids under hiis huge frame as the house collapsed. After the storm had passed he just raised up from the rubble and carried his wife and kids unharmed, like a litter of puppies to safety. I'm just wondering if any of you all can confirm this? I'm not trying to start rumors. (Britt is certainly big enough and tough enough to hold up a collapsing house.)

it's definitely true
his wife is in law school with me and we were at their house thursday morning trying to help them start the cleanup. the second story of their house is completely gone and 80% of the downstairs. he picked up a giant chest-of-drawers all by himself to help shield his wife and two kids, put a mattress down over them, and lay across it on top of them. he said at one point he could feel the tornado trying to suck him up, then it just stopped. he’s one hoss of a man. they were very lucky. the whole Forrest Lake community is devastated.
i bet there are tons of stories like this.
i proud of our former players but i hope the stories get out about the ordinary folk too.

The Britts
Wesley is in MBA school at Alabama, and his wife Katie Boyd Britt (formerly SGA president), is a law student there. Their house was in fact destroyed, but I can’t confirm stories of his heroics during the tornado, even if it does sound like something he’d do. They are great people and have two wonderful little children—we’re all relieved to hear that they are okay.
This is their house’s foyer, posted on Facebook:
