Chengdu, Sichuan, People’s Republic of China - A police officer in Chengdu, China, shot and killed Aubie on Thursday, June 2, 2011.
Numerous reports had indicated that someone in the area was engaging in illegal human trafficking. Specifically, multiple sources had informed local law enforcement that an anthropomorphic tiger was offering cash to local citizens in an attempt to purchase children with high athletic potential.
"The first thing I noticed was the bus. I mean, look at it!" said the officer, whose name is being withheld due to security concerns.

The bus was parked in front of a housing development in Chengdu. "When I saw the tiger come outside carrying a child, I remembered the reports concerning human trafficking."
The tiger, later identified as Aubie, attempted to flee the scene on foot as the officer approached, ignoring repeated warnings to stop.
"He just kept running, and didn’t even slow down. When I saw him heading towards a crowded market, I felt I had no choice but to use deadly force."
"This was my lucky day! Not only did I protect the children of Chengdu, but tiger penis can cost up to USD $5,700 – this one only cost me a few bullets!" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_penis
