ATVS Revisits the 2000 LSU vs Tennessee Game

Our SB Nation brethrin covering all things LSU look back at the showdown in Death Valley between a Nick Saban-led Bayou Bengal squad against a reloading Phil Fulmer unit. It turned into an overtime 38-31 battle royale. Why do we care? Because this contest was amid a season Coach Saban was juggling a roster with two talented quarterbacks and no clear leader for the starter position. In fact, Coach Saban refered to the duo, Josh Booty and Rohan Davey, as 1A and 1B. Josh Booty started the season with the starter job but key losses had led to Rohan Davey being put in the lineup for this contest. When he lead the Tigers to victory he became a fan favorite. "Between [Rohan's] injuries and a slightly improved level of play from Booty down the stretch, the "1A-1B" controversy lived on for the remainder of the season," ATVS notes.
