Over the weekend, Gene Stallings became the fourth Alabama head coach to be enshrined in the College Football Hall of Fame. The first to be so honored was Frank Thomas who was inducted in the hall's inaugural class in 1951.
This photo shows Thomas and fellow enshrinee Don Hutson being presented at an Alabama game that season. Seated on the far left is Wallace Wade who would become the second Alabama coach to be inducted into the hall four years later. Standing next to Hutson is halfback Harry Gilmer who would be enshrined in the hall as well.

That's a kickass picture!
Damn kleph! All things being equal, your work is flawless. I truly mean that.
Reading your recent critique in RBR Required Reading/Reading Room here on RBR has just been a pleasure, and keeping up with your recent posts from cookbooks to Spanish-language Bama blog content, from SEC Academic Honor Roll and the ’Bama championship teams (that one was hellaciously awesome). . . .???
Dude, I don’t know how you do it- incredible! You’re an RBR-treasure, and I want to personally thank you for giving me a deeper understanding for Alabama athletics and for helping me love and adore all things Tide even more than I already do.
Way to go kleph.
(this photo is a keeper, man! total. keeper.)

moreso than you think
there a lot of crimson tide gridiron stars in that photo and if you can identify them i could use the help. the only one i’m sure of is hoyt “wu” winslett who is standing right behind thomas.

Not sure...
…but I think the man standing at the far left may be Fred Sington, Sr., and the man standing third from the left (next to Wu) may be Tony Holm. Again, I’m not positive that’s correct.

Also...
…I’m pretty sure that’s Ed Salem next to Gilmer, and the man standing second from the left may be either Carey Cox or Don Whitmire (realllly not sure). I would expect Vaughn Mancha and perhaps even Bobby Marlow to be in that picture, and they very well may be, but I can’t tell if they are.

So...
…you just knocked on his door, said ‘Yo, my name’s Cliff, can I have that picture on the wall there, Harry?’

So you burglarized his crib?
It’s okay, you can tell us. I’m sure the statute of limitations has passed.
Charles Martel, Charlemagne, William the Conqueror, Raymond IV the Count of Toulouse, Godfrey of Bouillon, Baldwin of Boulogne, Henry II, Richard the Lionheart, St. Joan of Arc and Napoleon Bonaparte -- all of good stock.
