I know a lot of y'all don't give a toss darn tootin' about soccer, but quite a few people around here do. Anyway.
It was just announced that the US hired former German superstar Jurgen Klinsmann to coach the US national team. Klinsmann won the World Cup as a player in 1990 and the European Championship as a player in 1996. He coached the German World Cup team in 2006 through to the quarterfinals where they lost to eventual champion Italy.
Some people consider this a landmark hire, others think it's destined to fail. I'm not sure what I think his ultimate achievements will be, but I feel he's a better hire than continuing on with Bob Bradley who was fired yesterday.
Roll Tide, Go USA! Welcome Jürgen!
