"We all go through our lives, we're worried about our careers, we're worried about how much money we make, we're worried about these things where none of them are guaranteed. But the relationships we have and how people are affected by things, I think always affects your compassion. It does have an impact on you as a person."
Fox Sports' Bill Reiter pens a superb profile of Coach Saban comparing how different he is today versus when he took the Alabama job in 2007.

That was interesting perspective from someone outside of the SEC
I definitely agree with his premise that the tornado changed Coach Saban’s demeanor. However, I think the change started after the NC win and accelerated after the storm.
His info about the NC drought
was wrong. 1941-1961 >>> 1992-2009.
Also, 90% of the comments on that are straight up haters.
AL.com lesson -
comments are for douche bags. Wait…

Any other time
comments are for douche bags. There, fixed that for ya.

Personally I think
Saban started to change when he saw 90,000 at A-Day his first spring and it just accelerated with the tornado.
And I do think he is here for the longer haul, not that I would blame him if he retires all together in 5 years.
I do not think he will coach anywhere else.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
I agree at least about the first part.
You could tell that he was surprised, amazed, and happy (not satisfied or anything, but pleased with the effort, and excited about the hay he could make with it on the recruiting trail) after that first A Day. And then after the NC he seemed really at home and able to joke around and show more of his personality. I didn’t sense any monumental change in him after the tornado; just more of what I would expect from him.
God bless our Dark Lord.
