HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT HEADSET-GATE? A rumor making the rounds is Mullen got suspicious when Auburn kept "guessing" the perfect plays to counter State's calls. So Mullen supposedly ran a decoy play and on que Auburn adjusted to it. Then Mullen called the officials over and complained. The rumor is the headsets weren't malfunctioning, but Mullen was suspicious Auburn had wiretapped MSU's headsets. Notice how at the 1 minute mark, Chizik has this total disbelief look of "Whaaaaa???" This also happen at a critical drive in the game. Now tech savvy folks will say that eavesdropping on calls like that is impossible because you can't "wire-tap" a wireless communication system. The system they use (and EVERY NCAA D1 college uses) is one by the name of CoachComm. They use a system that is based on the 2.4GHz wireless spectrum exactly like that of cordless phones, wireless routers and access points, etc. The CoachComm system does something called channel hopping meaning that you can never dial down to which of the 13 main channels any coach would be talking on. They will be on one for two seconds and then move to a different one making frequency scanners even an improbable way of trying to "tap" their communications system. The one thing I will give you about the barn and convenient headset "malfunctions" is this. Take a look at where the company CoachComm is out of and it should answer any question you have about the barns ability to know what other teams are thinking: CoachComm, LLC, 205 Technology Parkway, Auburn, AL 36830. http://www.coachcomm.com/contact-us
