POLL: The Mosley Factor
While losing a starter is never good, the injury to C.J. Mosley is coming at a particularly troublesome time. While he hasn't been in a black no contact jersey, he has been very limited in practice and is listed as questionable for Saturday. Given the versatility of Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey, Mosley's skill set would definitely come in handy this weekend. That being said, when Mosley came out of the game against Arkansas, the Tide adjusted well. If Mosley is unable to go this weekend, what do you think the end result will be?

Kausler’s Tuesday practice report has some interesting tidbits:
Also look for freshman linebacker Trey DePriest inside in some situations. He ranks third on the team with 16 tackles, but many have been on special teams. Freshman safety Vinnie Sunseri is spending some time today with the inside linebackers.
Bringing Sunseri up to linebacker may be a way to get some more pass coverage ability there, to try to replace some of what we may be missing with Mosley out, I would think.
God bless our Dark Lord.
I swear
These coaches never cease to amaze me. I had never considered using Sunseri as a Saftey/LB hybrid, but the instant the possibility is suggested I recognize it as genius.

Sunseri
He made an outstanding open-field tackle against North Texas on a third down crossing route. I thought for sure he was beat on the play, but showed great closing speed.

Jarrell Harris
is finally getting onto the field
I think he will rise to occasion and finally live up to his recruitment hype
he’s certainly got the talent and if Don’Ta is leading the unit we should be fine

Did Jerrell play at the Will on Saturday?
He was on the field a lot more than usual, but as mentioned, he’s playing really well this year. I assumed Nico would take Mosley’s spot at the weakside, with Jerrell at strongside and Donta/Courtney in their usual spots.

Good thing

I believe Mosley will play.

I hope so.
The fact that he wasn’t in a black jersey yesterday is a good sign.
God bless our Dark Lord.
What was his diagnosis?
First I heard dislocated elbow and then heard strain of perhaps a strain. I hope he is ok and can play. He is the most versatile guy in a talented unit. I think we will miss him but will have enough to cover for him in his absence….I think the only thing that can get us in trouble this week is turnovers.

I don't know if anyone else saw that picture of the moment his arm got bent back
But it’s hard to believe that didn’t do some major damage. If he’s already practicing though, even in a limited capacity, that’s got to be a good sign that he won’t be out long. He’ll be limited at best this week, but then we really don’t have another tough game for a month and I would expect he’ll be pretty close to full speed by LSU.
I can't imagine him playing. That injury was cringe-inducing.
This is an extremely important game and though we may “need” Mosely, we don’t need him badly enough to risk worsening that elbow. One-arm tackling and changing the angle that he would usually hit the ball carrier? Unless his injury is being over-stated, I’m not sure I want him to play.
Also, if we don’t have (especially at this position) others that can step up and provide a quality of play without too significant of a drop-off, I’ll be surprised. Remember, Arkansas knew damn well that Mosely was out for the remainder of the game. Does anyone here think Petrino didn’t target the mid-depth passing game with Mosely’s absence in mind? And we did just fine, did we not?

Not confident
I have a class with the guy, and he favors that arm (which is in a sling).
That being said, defensive players like to use those bandage/club things to pummel folks.

Florida's WRs are not as good as ARKs
That will give us more flexibility underneath. Bringing Sunseri in as a SS/LB hybrid sounds like a great move.
Trey DePriest will play before Vinnie

Sunseri is quickly becoming one of my favorite players.
Hope he gets an opportunity and plays well.

It really is amazing the rise of Sunseri.
When we signed him I thought it was a ploy to keep a good coach. But Sunseri is the real deal. I would not be surprised to see him on D this week.
And, if we bring a DB or LB blitz, i say bring Vinnie…he will get the QB.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

See the horizontal flying block he laid on the PSU (I think?) guy on the punt return.

Bringing up Sunseri
Who knows what secrets lurk in the heart of Nick, but this seems like an obvious response to the Mosley injury. I have to think that we wouldn’t take Sunseri’s safety reps away and force a mid-season adjustment on him just for one game.
Saban is not best-known for his desire to overly share our injury status with the media. I think we won’t see much of Mosley for a while. I hope he’s good and ready by Nov. 5.
Has Sunseri gotten any playing time at safety yet though?
He played LB in high school. I don’t think this will be that hard of a transition for him to do, just for a few packages, and it will be a good way to get him some PT.
God bless our Dark Lord.
You have Trey Depriest who will play that role
and as far as safety, I would think that Sunseri is also behind Clinton-Dix as well.

I'm 12 years old
So any time I read Clinton-Dix, I have to respond with TWSS or Lewinsky.
They call me Country Grammar. My brother out the slammer. I'm crimson color painted, you ca call that Alabama.

Haven't watched Florida this year...
… do they have enough of an o-line and speed on the corners to pressure the safeties in the passing game? I was really surprised to see how much Arkansas reverted to the underneath stuff against us, and that offense seems much better suited for going downfield than Florida’s – but again, I haven’t really seen what sort of things Weiss is doing with Brantley and Co.
I’d like to think that this game comes down to two backs who can take the pounding all afternoon versus two backs who probably can’t, but what do I know?
I don't think it hurts us too bad
Although it’s not ideal, obviously. Considering how small their backs are, we probably will spend most of the day in nickel to combat their speed. I know Mosely plays in nickel, but donta and upshaw can handle the LB duties, and judging by how much space they put jerrel in, I’d say the coaches have confidence in him to make plays on the edges.
