Normally BlogPoll ballots are due Sunday night, so the ballot you'll be seeing here on Mondays will be the finalized, submitted one. But since there are games today our ballots aren't actually due until tomorrow so this will give y'all an opportunity to persuade me on where I'm wrong and/or stupid with the week one ballot:
A few thoughts and justifications:
LSU moves up to #2 ahead of Alabama since they were the only team this weekend to play a quality opponent and thoroughly dismantled them in the process. Seriously considered moving them up to #1 but considering they did it in the most LSU way possible, I'm going to hold off on jumping them past OU at least until we see how they fare against Florida State in two weeks. As for our own beloved Tide moving down? Well, it's still a long season and we'll have plenty of chances to prove where we belong.
As for the rest of the top ten, it's pretty static. I'm swapping Wisconsin (who looked more impressive with Russell Wilson than I thought they would) with Oklahoma State (who gave up 34 points to UL-Lafayette), and obviously dropping Oregon and moving LSU up.
The middle teams are pretty muddled right now since no one played anybody. Florida and tOSU jump a few spots since they both looked good despite the coaching changes, and Mississippi State gets a pretty good bump 'cause...well, just 'cause.
TCU stays ranked for a superlative comeback attempt, even if it did fall short, while Baylor says hello to the BlogPoll 'cause they're the feel good story of the week and why not.
Georgia, Notre Dame, and Auburn all drop out. If Georgia had even kept it close I would have kept them ranked, but Boise simply dismantled them in such a cold, methodical fashion that its hard to justify keeping them in. Notre Dame LOLZ! and Auburn, you can cry all you want about being "disrespected" with such a low ranking coming off of a National Title, but needing onside kick luck at the last minute to survive Utah State proved you shouldn't even be ranked at all. Beat Mississippi State this weekend and you're back in.
