RBR Pick'em Results Week 1 (now with a PRIZE)

Cfbpickem_medium

One week up...One week down. Week one is usually one of the hardest to pick due to the lack of knowledge of the teams playing. Some of us struggled (like me with 13 points) and some others really shined. This week only further solidified why I will never EVER bet real money on sports...So on to the winners and losers..

Group 1 Winner- Jimsdiamonds - 20 points

Group 1 Loser- AlabamaJammer - 12 points

Group 2 Winner- Leviathan11 19 points

Group 2 Loser- Cam Newton 11 points

Outstanding job guys. Now I mentioned in the title that a prize would be involved. This is true. I spoke with Todd today and he graciously offered to give the overall winner of the RBR Pick'em League a Roll 'Bama Roll Grey T-shirt with a Crimson logo. So now there's more than just your pride at stake...

If you are one of the many people who didn't realize that your picks were due on Friday Night before the first game, my apologies. I used the same exact settings as last year and didn't think to remind people that games started Friday and not Saturday. But don't give up just yet. You should still continue to make your picks cause you still have a chance at winning. You never know when people are gonna forget and fall under the same misfortune. So don't give up. Coach Saban wouldn't allow it..So, continue to pick and of course....

Grey looks good on me, too! My favorite color.

It’s the color of my vintage suit that I’m wearing to the Bama/Mich game in 2012.

That’s a winner right there.

Funniest stat of the preseason

Cam’s 42% completion pct. As a Bama and Falcon fan living in the Charlotte area the schaudenfreude I look forward to makes me smile.

What y'all think about this weeks games?

Texas/BYU only at 7?

UT line is 7 against Cinci..Im thinking Cinci may win that out right..

South FL is a 20 pt fav over Ball St. Dont know about that…

How is an unranked ASU a 7.5 pt fav over #21 Missouri? I know its a home and Mizzu didn’t look great but thats an odd line to me.

Not as many issues as last week...

But there are some tough ones. I’m going back and forth about UT/Cincy.

I want to pick Texas at such a low spread but I also remember how bad they were last year. Still, they can’t be as bad as Ole Miss, can they?

Ball State sucks pretty bad, right?

Also, the ASU/Mizzou one confuses me too. My only guess is that ASU seems like the PAC12 team that all the talking heads have been deciding to fellate this preseason as a trendy dark horse pick for the PAC12 champions. I could maybe see them winning a close game, but I really don’t buy the 7.5 line.

The same lines are giving me fits

I don’t claim to know anything of substance about Cincy, but with a line that close, my hatred of UT demands that I pick against them. Picking wrong will suck, but if I pick UT and they don’t cover, it’ll be much worse.

The Texas/BYU line is more difficult. I don’t know what to make of Texas and they very well may be as bad as Ole Miss. If Texas was favored by a few more points, that would seal the deal, but I don’t see the line moving north above 7.

And South Florida may be in for a letdown after the ND game. Sure, they’re gonna win, but by 20?

Mizzou’s D keeps this a close game, me thinks, so I’m leaning in Tigers’ direction.

Most are tempered to think the PAC12 division crown is the only goal within reach.

….personally I’d take the points. What I saw last weekend makes me say that one is an easy money straight up pick.

A few brutal lines

UT/Cincy obvs. Mizzou/ASU. NU seems high.

Think they win outright.

Kentucky did look really bad against a team that hasn't won in, what, 2 years?

I don’t know if CMU will win outright, but I do think they’ll beat that spread.

well I didn't start out great.

The spread killed me but I am not doing too bad. This week picks should be intresting

I got a little lucky on some of them

I hate it when over half the games have giant spreads. Also, Spurrier totally screwed me putting in CONNOR F*$&ING SHAW to play the first half of that game.

I love giant spreads.

Of the five games I got wrong last week, three of the lines were 4.5 or less. Apparently I’m much better at figuring out how bad a blowout will be than I am predicting seemingly close matchups.

I never bet this many games on one weekend. I always look for Vegas’ mistakes and make my weekends better.

Thankfully my gambling hasn’t degenerated like other vices.

I will begin my epic comeback this week

I was dealing with a funeral this past weekend and could not get to a computer come Wednesday on. So yea, I have zero, but this will be unreal in how I crawl back into it.
