Not justifying, but I think more would have happened if intentional
If he did step to injure, there is no justification. From the partial clip, however, he may have just been moving toward the pile. If you notice, after his foot goes onto the hand, the clip ends with his heel coming down on the turf. Intentional? I would dig the heel into the hand or stomp down. Blackwell did neither, and it looks more like his ankle rolled after stepping on the hand. Also, I would expect some greater reaction from the Bama players if it were as bad as it might appear simply from where the tape stops. Footage prior and after would be more revealing.

He was trying to avoid making it obvious (thus, no stomping). He put all his weight onto the hand before letting his heel down.Heal-toe is the natural way to walk (so his heal would have been on the grass, then his toe would have stepped on the hand if this had been an accident). Toe-heel (where the fingers are under the toe) means he was trying to dig his toe cleats into the hand before stabilizing himself.
View the video how you want – you have a right to your opinion – but there’s no way this was unintentional.

Yeah, you can see him shift his weight onto that foot after he puts it on his hand
plus his head is down looking right at it. It is hard to believe that wasn’t intentional.
look at how...
right before his foot goes down he turns/positions it to the left to get the most he could of the hand.

Completely innocent, I agree.
His “ankle rolled” so he could possibly break the fingers. Other than that and his deliberate targeting of an Alabama player who was already down, he was as innocent as a newborn… or at least as innocent as that unintentional closeline by Mathieu on Kirkpatrick in November.
By the way, what is the marijuana laced with down on the bayou?

So your saying
that a team that played as well as Alabama did Monday night, would not and did not stick up for that particular teammate when a "deliberate" or "intentional" act took place to injure him?
Since I cannot find an actual video clip of the play, I do not know the Alabama player involved. Why is he so hated by the other Bama players that nobody would help? There was shoving after the play when Maze and the other player were injured during the course of the play. So after a play, you want me and others to believe that either that Bama player on the ground is either so disrespected by his teammates, or that Bama is that weak?
I realize most people have never played college athletics, but you protect teammates, especially if you thought someone intentionally tried to injure someone, and never would you "roll your ankle on purpose" because that type of sprain never heals 100 percent. You might disrespect the Alabama defense as whole and that player on the ground in particular like that by saying Blackwell is too tough, dirty, whatever that everyone at Bama was scared to stand up to him, but I won’t. Sorry, it was a fair game which Alabama dominated in all phases. Why some Bama fans are showing them disrespect is beyond me?

He was also the first one last night
blaming horrible officials for their loss. LOLZ

Giving the Bama players credit for not abandoning a teammate.
Unfortunately, the short clip is an animated gif and not a video clip so actual sequencing cannot be determined without reviewing the entire play. If it were indeed intentional (it may have been) obviously no damage or even reaction from the Bama player occurred. As a former college softball player, I can assure anyone that even an idiot can use spikes to break anyone’s hand if he or she really wanted. On a football field, my brothers and husband can attest to the biting, nut kneeing, etc., that happens in almost all pileups.
If some attempt to intentionally hurt another player had occurred on the field, you cannot convince me that a team that played as well as Alabama would not come to the aid of a teammate. Look at the reaction to the Maze hamstring (the pushing after he pulled up and went out of bounds) and especially with the player hurt following the interception. Neither involved dirty tactics, yet the Bama team had each others’ back. Why would they totally ignore an intentional attempt to injure one of their teammates?
Even when refs miss something, the players know and react. From this same short gif, one could argue that 35 for Bama spikes the hand of another Bama player. His weight actually moves forward in the gif sequence. I did not see dirty play from either team last night. I saw fair domination by an Alabama team in every aspect of the game. Again, I can’t see why people on an Alabama board would think their team would not stick up for a teammate, especially if Blackwell’s act were intentional. They did before with the Maze injury and after with the interception injury (I’m basing my timing on the direction LSU is going and Petersen the LSU TE being on the field) so a potential penalty was not the reason for lack of reaction. Alabama played too well to only think of themselves as individuals and not as a team. That’s only the opinion of this Swamp Girl, nothing more and nothing less.

Still can't find video in game footage
With still pictures (animated gif) and the short clip, I really can’t make the call. If intentional, however, I think it looks just as poorly on the Bama players for not responding as they did with Maze and the other young man injured. I’d rather give Blackwell the benefit of doubt, and simply say that the Alabama players dominated the game with old school tough and fair team football.
On another board, I’m being trashed for saying this gif is NOT the Bama player pushing the ref and the refs were afraid of calling penalties on the Tide. So all must be well in the world.
I found the game enjoyable as we may never see anything like either defense again. As I wrote in another post, if not for the LSU defensive depth, Bama would have scored 50+ last night. On the other side, the Bama defense would give Drew Brees and Sean Payton problems.

Gibson never really even touchs the ref there.
But that is a nice shot of Erin Andrews (but did she really wear purple to the game?!).
God bless our Dark Lord.
She was with the team for a whole week
Did nothing but pump LSU sunshine on ESPN and Twitter the whole time. If LSU won I was expecting pics of her celebrating with them in the locker room.

The "forearm shiver"
It looks like he started to give him a push (probably thinking it was an LSU player since they had quite the habit of doing some late pushing on the sidelines during the game), but when he realized it was a ref pulled back (note the downward turned hand and arm traveling back toward his body, not extension you’d get when pushing someone).

Pam, ever consider that Blackwell was inconspicuously stepping on the hand, rather than outright stomping it?
Or are you willing to fluff Blackwell despite an obviously dirty, classless display?

Just saying
that the Alabama players are too professional to not assist a teammate injured in the field of play or if one had been the victim of an “obviously dirty, classless display.” I can’t figure out why you or anyone would contend Alabama lacks that type of team support. From the stands or on TV, you might not see everything just like the refs, but when you are a player on the field you “know” about cheap shots and react accordingly. I have never seen a real team not, and I would not discredit the Alabama defense in the way you are. That’s coming from a USL Ragin Cajun, wife of a former Tiger, sister to a former Bertman baseball player, and sister to a brother uintentionally injured at LSU Spring practice and even though rolled unintentionally blowing knee and achilles had his teammates in shoving matches pulling teammates off the pile. Fan attitudes may have changed but players have not once they are on the field.

You're basing all of this off what you see in that gif??
I would have to assume that the other players did not see right away what was going on. And yes, I do believe that our players would be disciplined enough to not retaliate later on.
God bless our Dark Lord.
Still holding to my original contention
“Also, I would expect some greater reaction from the Bama players if it were as bad as it might appear simply from where the tape stops. Footage prior and after would be more revealing.”

Just a little bewildered by all the attention to a gif that when not looped really looks like nothing and regardless was inconsequential to the outcome and did not result in any injury or reaction on the field.
“By the way, what is the marijuana laced with down on the bayou? are you willing to fluff Blackwell despite an obviously dirty, classless display?”
Also receiving a couple of private messages on how LSU fans and women know nothing about football and are not welcome here for my remarks on this thread makes for a reaction of a cottonmouth being stepped upon. I enjoy this board like another Saints board because most seem to appreciate the game and continue to support the players win or lose. Every board has it’s own idiots and “I’m the greatest fan because we’re winning” types, so that opinion does not apply to everyone here or there.

35's foot is not on the other guy's hand.
In the gif, his right foot was on the ground before the other player came down and he never took his foot off the ground.
God bless our Dark Lord.
She did wear purple
I think the guy on the Bama sideline wore red, however. The “ref push” and the “hand stomp” became topics on 2 different boards. Personally, I don’t think either meant anything. CFB/LSU complaining about the refs, and Bama on the hand stomp that nobody outside of the one gif has mentioned to me takes away from one of the most dominating and complete games a team has had in all phases. Aside from the 2 injuries, the only disappointment from a football standpoint was the missed PAT. Rarely, if ever, does an entire team play that well together, especially in a big game with lesser known players stepping into the spotlight. Best to you and yours CarrotTop4.

LSU Standard.
And nowhere near as offensive as what the defense did to his team. Fuck em. Maybe someone went to red stick and killed their trees.
