Yes it's as obligatory as another worthless Daniel Moore painting straight of the color copy machine -- which is also on its way -- but nevertheless 'Bama is on the cover of Sports Illustrated yet again. No dynasty proclamations this time around, but definitely a great photo.

I find it funny that nobody is talking dynasty

when that’s all they could talk about during 2005 with USC and we now have 2 more BCS championships than that team won.

then we can talk dynasty.

I agree

Except the Blackout painting, I think the ones in recent years have been nice and the events worthy of a painting. In retrospect, the 2009 season may have not warranted 5 paintings, but at the time is was miraculous and I wanted a painting for every quarter of football played that season.

because DM is simply whoring himself out to Bama fans..

instead of the one painting depicting an EPIC event in Bama history, we are getting 2 every year. I have no problem having a painting for every NC but he knows Bama fans are insane and will buy anything.

While that is true

he also scored our first TD in that game to cut a 10-0 Bama lead to 10-7 and change the momentum of the game. So he is a legitimate 2-1 as a player against Bama and wasn’t just a clipboard holding freshman.

All that aside, congrats on the championship. I had a feeling that Bama would win (can’t imagine Saban losing twice to the same team) but was genuinely shocked at the dominance.

Your memory fails you,

watch and remember.

And this, from Alligator Army, no less:

It was very exciting and I had a good time. Alabama has a great team and so does Florida but I don’t think anyone expected the game to be like it was. I didn’t expect a blowout either, so that surprised me but not really because I know how good Alabama was…Their fans seemed to know me and were yelling for me to come to Alabama. I didn’t know it would be like that. It was a good feeling because it made me feel wanted there. I’ve had people recognize me before but never like that.

Still owned.

Some of these arguments are a little silly.

I have a great deal of respect for the program there at Florida. You guys are having a few down years, but it’ll get turned around sooner or later. I’m not certain that Muschamp is the guy to do it, but my vote doesn’t count on that issue. I’m fascinated that Weis was able to turn that dreadful offensive performance into a head coaching job, but stranger things have happened… I think.

Let’s remember that it wasn’t too long ago where we would have been grateful for Alabama’s “down years” to be 8-5 and 7-6 with bowl victories over Penn State and Ohio State. Florida hasn’t had a losing season since 1979. We’ve had 5.

In my opinion, Alabama is better when Florida is good. (Objectively, I think the same thing about Tennessee, but my feelings for Tennessee are different than for Florida.)

Let's check:

2011 defensive rankings and statistics:

Alabama

  1. overall defense – 183.6 yards per game
  2. rush defense – 72.2 rushing yards per game, 2.4 yards per carry, 3 TDs
  3. pass defense – 111.5 passing yards per game, 8.8 yards per completion, 6 TDs, 83.7 opposing QB rating
  4. scoring defense – 8.2 points per game

Kansas State

  1. overall defense – 394.6 yards per game
  2. rush defense – 131.2 rushing yards per game, 4.0 yards per carry, 18 TDs
  3. pass defense – 263.4 passing yards per game, 11.4 yards per completion, 26 TDs, 133.6 opposing QB rating
  4. scoring defense – 27.9 points per game

Texas

  1. overall defense – 306.1 yards per game
  2. rush defense – 96.2 rushing yards per game, 3.1 yards per carry, 15 TDs
  3. pass defense – 209.8 passing yards per game, 10.6 yards per completion, 13 TDs, 111.0 opposing QB rating
  4. scoring defense – 22.2 points per game

Oklahoma

  1. overall defense – 376.2 yards per game
  2. rush defense – 134.7 rushing yards per game, 3.7 yards per carry, 15 TDs
  3. pass defense – 241.5 passing yards per game, 12.2 yards per completion, 18 TDs, 116.1 opposing QB rating
  4. scoring defense – 22.1 points per game

Alright, so, if we compare Alabama’s defensive statistics against the absolute BEST statistics in each individual measurable listed among those other three teams:

Alabama allowed:
122.5 fewer yards per game (than Texas)
24 fewer rushing yards per game (than Texas)
0.7 fewer yards per carry (than Texas)
12 fewer rushing TDs (than Texas or Oklahoma)
98.3 fewer passing yards per game (than Texas)
1.8 fewer yards per completion (than Texas)
13 fewer passing TDs (than Texas)
27.3 point lower opposing QB rating (than Texas)
13.9 fewer points per game (than Oklahoma)

So, Oklahoma State, please don’t compare Alabama’s defensive stats to these teams’, and we won’t compare Oklahoma State’s very impressive offensive stats to:
Northern Illinois (#11 overall offense, 476.0 yards per game)
Michigan State (#41 passing offense, 252.5 passing yards per game)
Arkansas State (#31 scoring offense, 32.5 points per game)

In case you were curious:
Alabama’ s offense gained 116.2 fewer total yards per game and 13.9 fewer points per game than Oklahoma State’s.
Alabama’s defense allowed 273.2 fewer total yards per game and 18.6 fewer points per game than Oklahoma State’s.
