Lee came off the bench to direct an 89-yard first quarter scoring drive for Houston Nutt's Stars team for a 14-0 lead over the Stripes in a game that once was called the Blue-Gray All-Star Classic.
Jarrett Lee excels in Senior All-Star game
Good old Jarrett. What a troll.

Were there any defenders?

No!
Didn’t you read? He said Lee directed a scoring drive (no pick-sixes were involved)….

you gotta feel bad for the guy
he’s being used as a tool for LSU fans to vent their frustration
he probably just wants to get on with post college life and, hey, good for him
maybe he can get on a roster and hold a clipboard for a couple years and make a living

By the way some folks think Miles holding Lee out was part of a conspiracy. I’d say putting Lee in would be part of a conspiracy.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

Agreed
And LSU fans can’t understand it. We had constant pressure on JJ, and not on long-developing pass plays. It was immediate pressure directly off the snap. Now if we are getting that kind of pressure on a kid who has the ability to move out the pocket, what would we have done to a stationary, immobile Lee?

Moreover,
Lee’s last two throws against us were picks. The fact of the matter is, with an ass beating that severe occurring, there was literally nothing that Miles could’ve done that would’ve pleased fans.

I’m sure there will be more second guessing of Les.

If
Jarrett Lee played the entire Nov. 5th game, Alabama would have been 14-0. If he played in the BCS game, we would still have won easily. Lee couldn’t do anything against Alabama.
Lol. That would be something if he got picked up by the Packers since Flynn will get picked up by someone else...
Get that throwing off your backfoot thing fixed right away. Seriously, I’m grateful for JLee’s sticking it out through thick and thin—showed a lot of character. Good luck to him.
GET TO THE RIM HEAT (and SKY)! ATTACK THE PAINT!
Agreed...
…on Lee showing character. That kid got kicked to the curb a few times. I’d really love to see him have a substantial NFL career.

Tough on a college kid playing QB in a system like their's.
Les should have known the hell he was going to catch.
RBR resident Dogcaller.
Lee may not be as bad a QB as some may think.
I’m not saying that Jarrett Lee has proven to be a great college quarterback, but even though we have never met I do respect the young man. Against Alabama the other night, I doubt if any college QB would have had much success, and I’m not suggesting Lee could have changed the outcome. I do think his statistics against Alabama over his career do not tell the entire story. 2008: 4 INTs, but he was a freshman who was originally not on the depth chart, the Ryan Perriloux fiasco and no other scholarship QBs put him in on the field too early. 2009: 1 INT after the Jefferson injury, but I think we were already down by 2 scores. 2010: no INT in the 2QB system, and he completed a long (over 40 yards) pass on 3rd at the end which allowed LSU to practically run the clock out. 2011: he had the 2 INTs.
Of course we have no idea about what may or may not have happened in practice. Rumors of grade problems proved untrue because Lee earned his degree after the Fall semester. After the Bama game, however, he threw 5 passes the remainder of the season. His stats before Bama were not great, but efficient in that the offense put up points against ranked teams and did not turn the ball over. In many ways, he would be comparable to many former QBs on teams with strong D and running games. This past season till the Alabama game, it would not be unreasonable to compare Lee’s 2011 stats to those of McElroy in 2009.
Jarrett Lee is probably a better QB than most Alabama fans think, but he is probably not as good as some LSU fans think. The most popular player when a team loses is usually the backup QB. If McCarron had the fumbled snaps and more importantly that glare/blame of a teammate that Jefferson had toward Ware following the interception, I suspect Saban would have at least given him an earful on the sidelines if not pulled him for at least one series regardless of experience or ability of the backup.
Given the body language of the starting player, you would think some change or reaction would have occurred for a series at least. As for the pass rush excuse, one well timed slant, screen, or fade may have altered the defensive philosophy to a degree. Despite the total domination, 2 Bama mistakes, LSU lucky breaks, or great plays would have caused some stress before the final TD. If I had only seen McCarron in game 1, I would not have thought him capable of the touch of a few of the out patterns he hit against good coverage and under a good rush. Like with Lee, I do not know the full story there, but McCarron seemed to go from thinking and aiming to trusting his ability somewhere between game 1 and 2. I would not be surprised to see him as a potential Heisman candidate in the future.
The questions about Lee, may or may not be answered in the future. Regardless, this young man stuck it out and overcame being overwhelmed after playing too early and was the starting QB for one of the 2 best teams in the country for most of the season. He easily could have transferred after being dissed his freshman year. He may have thrived in either the Pac or Big 12, and he may have an NFL career. I doubt few college graduates would turn down an NFL salary.

Let's check:
J. Lee, first 8 games of 2011
98 completions on 155 attempts (63.23%), 1,250 yards, 13 TDs, 1 INT, average per-game QB rating 169.625
Pretty good, but I’ll go you one further.
On the year, with all games included, Lee’s 2011 stats were:
104 complettions on 167 attempts (62.3%), 1,306 7.82 yards per attempt, 14 TDs, 3 INTs, 4 sacks, 152.0 QB rating.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/232417/jarrett-lee
In 2009, Greg McElroy’s stats were:
198 completions on 325 attempts (60.9%), 2,508 yards, 7.7 yards per attempt, 17 TDs, 4 INTs, 140.5 QB rating.
Greg actually had a better year in 2010:
222 completions on 313 attempts (70.9), 2,987 yards, 9.5 yards per attempt, 20 TDs, 5 INTs, 169.0 QB rating.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/14101/type/college/greg-mcelroy
(Not sure why no sack data on McElroy, but I’m sure we all remember one or two each of these years.)
Fourteen.
Thanks for putting up some stats
and the links. It helps illustrate the multitude of factors involved in wins and losses simply looking at the significant completion percentage and YPA amounts from 09 and 10.
Would you rate the BCS game as one of McCarron’s best? Not that he was bad in game 1, but he played at a different level in game 2 in my opinion. He just looked like he was in charge whether or the field or from the TV shots of him waiting on the sidelines. We were very impressed and hope that type of play continues for the young man.
