There is a longer video

up at Rolltide.com. Has the players speeches.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

I told everyone

For yrs that an idiot could win an sec title at alabama, a good coach could win a nc and a great coach could dominate college football! Ty coach saban for proving me right. Roll Tide!!

Well

at Bama it may be easier to win than at say Vandy, but even having a 10 win season does require some skill as a coach. I think Ray Perkins was a pretty good coach, he’d had some success in the NFL, but he never won anything at Bama.

And, we have dominated CF for the past 4 years, but we have a long way to go to really be considered a dynasty program.

if we get another one in the next 2-3 years I think we have to be

at least a “mini-dynasty”

if we get 4 within 8-10, I’d say that qualifies as well

always fun to argue what constitutes a true one

We should have hired Stallings right after the Bear.

The teams who can claim dynasties after the Bear would be Miami, Florida State, and Nebraska. Florida had an intraSEC dynasty under Spurrier and maybe would have been a true dynasty under Meyer if Saban hadn’t come along and Cam hadn’t left. No offense to Les, but imagine if Saban had stayed at LSU, thus no need for a transition. Oklahoma and Ohio State knew how to win the big one.

Our win in NOLA was huge. Next year could be their year. Imagine if they had won 12 days ago. Possibly four straight for Les over Saban, back to back national championships, and three national championships from 2007-2012.

Schnellenberger was great.

But I think Stallings was the Bear’s first choice, followed by Mal Moore and Perkins. Btw, didn’t we turn Bobby Bowden down twice? First after Perkins for being too old, then after Curry for having too large a buyout contract?

I dunno,

Bowden’s story is that he was told he had the job after Perkins and that he should come to Tuscaloosa to be introduced. But he says when he got there, the search committee wanted to ask him more questions. He was offended and pulled his name out of the running. (Again, all according to him. But I think it has mostly been verified by others.)

God bless our Dark Lord.

Alabama...

…has won more national titles since Coach Bryant retired than FSU has.

You are right.

In my mind there have really been only two dynasties since Bryant- Nebraska and Miami. Back in the old days, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Army, Michigan and Yale all had amazing runs. However, today it is much much harder to win say 3 or 4 national championships in a span of 7 or 8 years. I like or team next year but to win 3 out of 4 is incredibly difficult and unlikely. On the pure odds of the situation I would not bet on Alabama.

However, don’t bet on LSU either. They are not going to be as good next year as they were last year.

If there is any dynasty right now it is the SEC. 6 in row will not be duplicated.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

BOOM!

I’m pretty sure they have us on top 5 finishes though, although we have quite a few in that time period as well.

God bless our Dark Lord.

FWIW, Perkins did have a 10 win season in '86.

I’ve often said that any coach can win 10 games at Bama. Every coach since Ears has done it at least once. Actually, since World War I, Ears is the only Bama coach to not have a 10 win season.

God bless our Dark Lord.

We should really...

celebrate with a parade through the streets of Tuscaloosa like we did in ’93. A much better, all inclusive, and more impressive way of doing it – rather than huddle up on the field at Bryant Denny.

Parades are much more of a pain, from a logistical standpoint.

Event in the stadium, you just hire the parts gameday staff back for a day.
Parades require road closings, and cops, and business planning around being inaccessible to cars for an afternoon.

Dave Robertson is growing up to be the new Mariano Rivera. My two universes of fandom can finally unite!
