Bamastuff.com hacked - Check your bank statments
It appears that someone has hacked the payment database at bamastuff.com, the Alabama Book Store website. If you have ordered anything from there from August 1, 2009 to January 16, 2012, your credit card info may have been compromised. Note that this would have included BOTH national championship periods. Some forum posters have already seen fraudulent activity on their cards and others have received an email from bamastuff.com alerting them about the activity. While I have purchased some thing rather recently, I have seen neither to this point.

One of these days the internet is going to bring down this country.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
What's the Internet?

Just to streamline the fix for this
I worked fraud as a police investigator for years so I thought I would chime in and explain the steps if you did get ripped off. It is really pretty simple. Just check your accounts and contact your credit card provider or bank. You will probably have to file a police report. You are allowed under Alabama State Law to file a report with the Police Department of your home jurisdiction because this falls under the code for Identity Theft ( Code of Alabama title 13A-8-190 ) . The reason I bring this up is that most police officers whom you try to file a report with may not understand this. You may have to “school” them on the law. I know, I had to school many of them. I don’t mean to be disrescpectful to them, but most of them just don’t know. Most of them think that you have to file the report in the jurisdiction where your credit card information was actually stolen or used. That is just not the case by Alabama law.
Once you file the report pick up a copy of it and send it to your credit card provider. They will have you sign an “Affidavit of Fraudulent Use” . Once you do this you will no longer be responsible for the charges and the credit card provider becomes the victim and prosecution is on them.
Word of advice, let them be the victim and get on with your life at this point. I have seen way too many people revictimize themselves by spending a fortune trying to chase down the crook because they feel violated. The credit card company will probably not pursue prosecution unless they are out a substantial amount of money, and they probably won’t be as one company. The overall theft will be distrubuted among many companies. This means the criminal gets away with it and that sucks, but that is the cost of convenience. Criminals make money, but Karma is a bitch. Hope this helps.

I agree on keeping it simple, but
From my experience, my cc companies/banks have never required a police report for hacked cc numbers or the garden variety “unauthorized usage.” However, if your IDENTITY has been stolen (ie, accounts opened in your name & SS #) you’ll definitely need a police report.

This, this, this!
Call your bank/provider the second you see any suspicious charges. 20 minutes on the phone and it’s out of your hands.
Maybe it’s different in Georgia, but I never had to contact the police myself when my card number was stolen. My bank made me promise to prosecute if they chose to, but nothing ever came of it. After I initially called and reported, I just had to print the affidavit from my bank’s website, sign it, and fax it, and my money was mine again.
Hope no one on here who gets screwed on this is intimidated out of reporting it. It really is an easy process.

yep... I used to work in the "hotcard" industry until a week ago (and FWIW they are handling the issue just as they should and in accordance with payment card industry standards)
i got the email from them earlier today as well, the card i used that may have been compromised, has already expired. so i know i’m in the clear. for anyone else who did use Bamstuff.com and did not receive their email today you should try to remember whatever fake email address you gave them when you bought your crap, and check it. if you cant, you better remember what cards you’ve used. check the statement history for anything suspicious, if you see anything thats not your authorized charge you need to contact your bank ASAP and begin the dispute process. if you wait passed 90 days, you could be liable for unauthorized DEBIT card activity. credit cards are a little better for consumers, but if you dont dispute a credit card charge in time either, you’ll still be SOL.
so what have we learned? review all your spending account activity each month, and notify your bank if you ever see anything that wasn’t authorized.

You may not have to contact the police. I just threw that up there in case you did.
I had plenty of people that were required to contact me and it was ususally more of a formality than anything. The credit card companys always took it from there.
