Somehow we have the lead
despite an ugly half so far. On the other hand, SC has missed a lot of shots in the paint that could have/should have gone. Just need to take smart shots and finish when we get the chance.

Bama leads 29-27 at half
Tide has double-digit turnovers which has allowed SC to stay close and actually lead much of the half. Green missed most of the half with foul trouble and Mitchell missed about half for same reason. Randolph’s two treys were huge, Jacobs has been steady offensively inside, and Releford has been aggressive, which is good to see even though he’s been blocked a lot. Interior defense has given SC fits so far.

I just listened to Coach Grant's postgame interview on the radio
All two minutes of it. The man was pissed and obviously disappointed with the team. He seems to care about a 4-game losing streak. Who has been pumping sunshine and rainbows? The only time the mood on this boards has been overwhelmingly positive was during the Puerto Rico run.
I just think your constant bitching is ridiculous. You’re moaning about the effort of a team that relies heavily on four freshmen and a trio of returning players who have failed to be consistent leaders for this team. Gee, who would have imagined the team would struggle at times. Unfortunately, the rest of the season appears to be a series of peaks and valleys for this team. I’m not happy with the way we’re playing either but at least I can look at the struggles objectively. You just bitch and bitch and bitch. This team is asking a lot of four freshmen and misses the hell out of someone like Chris Hines who brought toughness and leadership to the team when it needed it last season.
Yes, coaching staffs have to make adjustments when things are going wrong, but I honestly do not think the struggles right now rest solely with the coaching staff. Sorry, I just don’t.

Im trying to argue that our coaches should be given more criticism than they are. I love grant just as much as the next guy, and I believe he will get this team through this. But the problem is…we haven’t seen anything suggesting other wise yet. Our offensive issues are systemic across multiple teams and with different players. I’m not bitching for bitching’s sake, I have a very legitimate gripe about how this team is handled philosophically on offense. I don’t care if you get mad at me, I know what I see.

Grant may not be the answer. I think even CMG would have won this game. SC is a terrible team.

but I’ve gotta agree with you….if what we all want is excellence from our basketball program – and speaking for myself, it is exactly what I demand we accomplish – then we must hold the head coach to the same standard that we would the head football coach….If we miss the dance this year and next, it will be the basketball equivalent of going 9-4, 8-5, 7-6, and then 6-6 and missing a bowl game in football…..and y’all know as well as I do what would happen to a football coach after a four year stretch like that…..

I have no clue how anybody who proclaims to want Alabama to have a decent Bball program can be in anything but meltdown mode right now…..this is a GOATFUCK OF EPIC PROPORTIONS…..we not only lost, but looked completely inept in doing so….we just pulled the equivalent of losing to Ole Miss on the football field last season with everything on the line…..and continued a growing, disturbing trend of choking when it counts most….

But, it is not just that we lost, it is how we looked. This was the worse game we have played by far. We looked for all the world like we did not care. To be honest I wonder if we care. We have lost whatever little energy we had in P.R. and getting it back is going to be hard, very hard. I doubt we can do it and I doubt Grant can do it.

Well the frustration
for some of us began last year in the VI and even though we did have a decent SEC season we still could not shoot.
So, we sign 3 outside shooters. Surely we can shoot the 3 now.
But we can’t.
Then we look sick vs. Vandy, but they are a good team so we give em a break.
There is no break given for what happened tonight. No hustle, no desire. They looked like they were playing a pick up game. And, if are going to play zone can we get an offensive rebound? No. So why, not play man? Don’t worry, no matter what we play we can’t put points on the board our self.

I totally understand the frustration
I have been feeling the same way, but you have to be able to back the team through the season. If this continues then say whatever you want when the season is over. My problem is that these same people who are burning down the bandwagon will be the first ones looking for a spot if we are able to pull it together. Support the team.

. . . only because he hasn’t figured out how to get Green to lead by staying out of foul trouble and showing heart and determination for more than a couple of games.
I think we all agree that we have a very talented team. I think we can also agree that we have one of the best defensive teams in the country, at least top 10 or 15. With 10 winnable games left we could still get on a roll and get into the dance.
As fans, we can choose to do as Green seems to do sometimes: quit in frustration. Or, we could recognize that this team still has a legitimate shot to make a run and show them that this is no time to be giving up.

What is wrong with this team?
Other than the obvious lack of practice in that aspect of the game where you jump and project the ball towards the orange cylinder with the intention of having the ball travel through the said cylinder. Yeah it’s minor, but it helps win games. I think there are spots on the court where you get an extra point for this act.
We ought to find some players that are good at doing this weird specialty. I’ve seen some cases where small Caucasian players were pretty efficient doing it.
Sometimes you gotta think outside the box as a coach.
