Around SBN: The Most Dangerous Division in Sports

As always, we start the year undefeated and with hopes of heading to the CWS.

And we can hope those Nike POS bats have been discarded or tweaked so our power hitters have a better chance at swinging for the fences.

Players are not required to use Nike bats this season. Each player can use whatever bat he chooses. Power numbers should go up, although it will probably be just slightly. There is a good mix of young talent and veteran leadership. Getting Dugas back in CF was huge for this bunch. Pitching will be extremely young and/or inexperienced. The new closer, Gardeck has a plus arm having hit 100mph on more than one occasion. If they can get his location more consistent we’ll have that shutdown closer we’ve all been wanting the past few years.

We have power hitters?

Yes, albeit not like you’ve seen in the past. Don’t expect to see anyone hitting 25+ homeruns. With the BBCOR bats team leaders will average around 15-20.
