1) Safety - an interesting and recent update this week was verbal commit, Eddie Williams announcing that he would like to tryout for the wide receiver position. Williams at 6-3 and 200 lbs. was a possible fit at three positions, safety being the most likely. Currently we have no true safeties (of course there may be plans to convert someone from another position) in this class if Williams makes the switch. Now with this announcement we can speculate that Bama is hoping Landon Collins makes the jump to the Tide. If we get him it will be a big pull as he's a Lousiana native who also has LSU in his top 2.
2) LB/Jack/DE - Jordan Jenkins is still in play and will announce on January 9th. The biggest obstacle for Jenkins appears to be our current LB verbals and that Bama is still supposedly recruiting Channing Ward. Jenkins will choose between Bama, Auburn (cough), Florida (his hometown) and Georgia (a great place if you like to have 3-4 losses per year).
Kwon Alexander is an outside linebacker who is a strong AU lean, but has visited LSU and says he'll visit Bama this month. Not seeing this one pan out as we're close to full already and heavy at the LB position.
3) Athlete - Cyrus Jones (ATH/Wide Receiver) is being heavily recruited by a bunch of schools but it is down to Bama and Va Tech (seriously?). He will be playing with some other Bama verbals during the Under Armour All-America game this Thursday and will announce during the game.
4) OL - You know about Alphonse Taylor, but Brandon Greene (an early Bama verbal) has been receiving a lot of recruitment from his native state school, GA Bulldogs. Apparently he is now back to being a firm (whatever that's worth) verbal for the Tide and will also be playing at the Under Armour game with other Bama verbals.
Big day is Thursday!
The Under Armour All-America Game is on ESPN this Thursday starting at 6:30 pm CT. Some interesting notes:
Team Blur (white team) - Has 6 Bama verbals and 1 heavily recruited prospect; Cyrus Jones.
