5 Reasons We Need To Beat LSU
Below are listed my top five reasons we really need to beat LSU. If you have some other reasons I'd love to hear them.
1. It is for the National Championship. When they started awarding the National Championship after the bowls, in the 1965 season, suddenly you had a game at the end of the year when you were actually playing for the title. Since 1965, a span of 46 years we have had a bowl game where we played for the a NC 8 times before this year. In the early years we lost the thing 3 times in 71, 73, and 74 (although we won a piece in 73 and won it in 65.) But the last 4 times, 78, 79, 92, and 09, when we had our shot, we have won that game. It is very important we win and keep this legacy of winning the biggest game on the biggest stage going.
2. 13, 13, 13. I'm proud to claim 13 titles, but we need to get off that number. If we lose going for 14 a few times we are going to start feeling jinxed by 13. 14 is a much, much, better number than 13. Lets get off 13 now.
3. You never know when you will have your next shot. I'll never forget in 92 I thought we were a year ahead of schedule and felt like if we lost in 92 we would win it all in 93. Boy was I wrong. I'm so glad we won in 92 when we had our shot. I think we will have a lot of shots in the next 10 years...but you never know. We need to win this thing now just in case we don't return for a few years.
4. We owe LSU. The last two meetings with LSU have been sad, very sad. We out play them and then lose in some crazy play like the now infamous goal line int. It is very important we reestablish ourselves as the better team. If we lose our 3rd game in a row to these guys and then go to BR next year...well we could be starting a bad trend. To be the dominant team in the SEC you need to beat everyone more than they beat you. It is simnple. We need to right the ship against these guys now.
5. LSU plays dirty. There is no way else to put this other than to say that in game 1 LSU had some dirty hits. The Honeybadger was the worst, but there were a lot of cheap shots. When I see some of the stuff I saw in game 1, even though some of it was called, I think the only answer is to beat them. If they take cheap shots, and win, they can justify what they did. If they lose well it sends them a message. I know Bama is not perfect, but I honestly do not think we train or try to hit players in a way that is illegal or intended to harm. I have no idea who America is for in this game but I think people who pull for the team that does it the right way will be pulling for Bama.
Well, I could go on, but these are the main reasons that I feel we absolutley need to win this game.

Wrong.
You also have a losing record against Louisiana-Monroe.

Nah, man.
I enrolled at UA in August of 09. The only schools I’ve been around for losses to are USCe (1-1), the nasty corndogs (1-2, so far), and the Barn (2-1, so far).

what does this scene refer to?
Well, America is big and diverse.
It felt like we had great support for killing Miami, who was Goliath. Against Texas, we were Goliath, but without the attitude. We stumbled out of the gate, knocked out Colt, then had to hear about the game being won with an asterisk. There’s Bama hate, there’s SEC hate, there’s Saban hate. Plus we lost a boring game at home and OkSt got robbed.
We need to play with class, wln or lose. We win, we shut up a lot of people, but we won’t get much support.

You may be right
as I feel a lot of folks are against us because they feel like we don’t deserve a second shot. In that case we better prove em wrong.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
We need to win to justify our second chance at LSU
We beat ourselves the first time, and I think the whole team knows it. Most of America does not think we deserve the second chance. If we lose again, the SEC haters will yammer on and on about how we should never have been in that game in the first place.
I personally
don’t think that Alabama has to prove anything to anyone except for Alabama. I could care less what the haters think. Play for Alabama and Alabama alone…….play for the people and community that loves them and play for pride.

I agree...
Win big and do it with class. Don’t gloat or engage the haters, just grin broadly and move on. Success is the best salve for old wounds.
Yep, that's exactly what you're going to hear if we don't win.
And even if it’s as close as the last one, people would still say we didn’t deserve to be there.
God bless our Dark Lord.
As I've said many times before...
F*ck ’em. Let ’em bitch, whine, moan, whatever. They hate us anyway.

Perception matters in this sport, m'kay?
And if you disagree with me, f*ck it, I don’t care what you say.
God bless our Dark Lord.
I reckon.
I think you may be failing to make the distinction between the general public’s perception, which would not have us in the game to begin with, and the perception of those who actually matter in the process. This is no different than trying to fight the public “Updykes!” bit, or the War on Drugs®. Some battles just ain’t gonna be won, and wouldn’t be worth the effort anyway.

Let me clarify
To avoid any misunderstanding I am an LSU fan, while I played softball years ago for USL my eldest brother played football at LSU and my younger brother baseball. Again all in the way back past, but the family still bleeds purple and gold. First, the BCS system is flawed, no doubt about it because some schools have absolutely no chance regardless of how good they really are. That said, Alabama deserves a rematch as one of the two best teams this year. In game one, Reid made a fantastic play on the interception. If the pass had travelled 1 inch further, or if Reid had jumped 1 second earlier or later, it was a TD. Likewise, on any given play, Richardson could power out of one extra tackle and go the distance. LSU won the 1st game on the scoreboard while the stat sheet favored the Tide. Game 2 might be the opposite with LSU dominating on the stat sheet with the Tide getting the big play. If it were possible, I think these teams would split 100 games 50/50. We may never see 2 better defenses. Opposite styles and philosophies by Smart and Chavis, but both are very effective. Critics crying no offense need to understand that no team, other than each other, stopped the Bama and LSU offenses this season. The closest one could argue would be Mississippi State. Regardless of score, players, coaches, and we fans need to hold our heads up because we have not one but two opportunities to see these teams face off. That’s what a girl from the swamp thinks. Roll Tide but Geaux Tigers!

Great post!
I agree with everything. And you point out we both are strong on offense—until we faced each other’s defense. Good luck!

Corndog smell gross! Rotting chicken on a hook catching gators perfume this summer.
I don’t know if I qualify as a nice respectable lady as I have gotten in a fight at a HS football game. It was even one of our fans who kept yelling and cussing about a 15 year-old freshman trying hard but getting beat by a bigger, stronger, faster, senior who went on to play D1. Fortunately the sheriff and I graduated high school together, and he let me give old fat gut trash mouth guy a few extra elbows before he, my husband, and son pulled me away. I’m probably not much to sniff now either as I’m helping my youngest son tag gators as a project with Wildlife and Fisheries because hanging rotting chicken has its own aroma. Nevertheless, faith and family, education, and sports dominate the household. I still disagree with the guy here who thinks the LSU O-line is far superior to yours. Yes, Coach Pendry was still there last year, but the running game had the curse of a talented receiver in Jones who needed touches. Most O-linemen get pulled for giving up a sack, not from not getting to the 2nd and 3rd levels. Psychologically, they might not go 100 percent every running play. Pounding the ball is mindset where you have to accept the boos for doing "nothing" until you get the break or wear the other team down. This year there has been a change to some zone blocking under the new coach. That’s why LSU running is better this year than last. Coach Studrawa and Kragthorpe have that mindset to run as opposed to Crowton’s let’s be a little of everything. Enjoyable board y’all have here just like one of the Saints boards, LSU’s on this network is also good, but another LSU one just gets on my nerves.
Side note: Same person as the other videos I posted on Fan Shots (unfortunately still not my creations), but there is a new and really nice Drew Brees Most Valuable Person video on the LABLouisianaBoy channel. Highly recommended as an illustration of how a professional athlete should act off the field. Who Dat both Rolls and Geauxs!

All I'm saying is that our O-line
is not what you think it is. That being said, they have not played their best game yet. Hopefully we will play our best game on Monday.
By the way, 4 of 5 starters on the O-line are back next year and the 5th will probably be the best high school lineman of a year ago. I really think with one more year together these guys will be something special in 2012. However, our D will be young. Still good enough to beat anyone but young.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

Sorry for any misunderstanding,
I’m overly sensitive when it comes to the play of an offensive line. Skill position players get most of the headlines, but few skill players would have any success without the work of the linemen. With Dad, brothers, and husband all having been or still coaching, this girl watches a game differently than some. I understand now that you weren’t dissing the Bama line.
BTW: my other Bama peeve is when someone gives Saban all the credit for a good defense. If it is the same there as it was here, Saban does work a lot on technique, especially with the DBs. Schemes and game calls, however, are the defensive coordinator. I know nothing about him other than the little bio blogs, but Coach Smart is definitely a top level Coach and Coordinator. He just doesn’t have the name recognition of John Chavis but is just as fine a coach.
by PamfromLouisiana on Jan 5, 2012 12:56 PM CST up reply actions
We only wish no one knew about Kirby Smart.
Because he is HC material. And, as far as Smart goes he learned about 90% of what he knows about defense from Nick Saban. That is why we are not too worried if he leaves because Saban will just train another one. But, we want Smart to stay at least another year.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Might have hit wrong button
I thought I hit the recommend on your comment 5026, but Flag is appearing on my screen now under your reply. I’m definitely NOT “flagging” you for anything. Enjoy the good back and forth with someone who actually respects the game itself and isn’t solely “my school”. Take care.

Five More Reasons We Need To Beat LSU
6. LSU has been getting REALLY lucky in a lot of games the last couple of seasons. The NCAA made rules changes because of the luck they’ve had.
7. Tyrann Mathieu is pretty much getting a pass on two pot smoking violations. FYI, the national press seems to have forgotten the underwhelming game he had against Alabama Nov. 5th. BUT LOOK WHAT HE DID AGAINST KENTUCKY!
8. Nick Saban has NEVER lost to a team 3 times in a row.
9. To honor our women’s basketball coach’s safe traveling habits (too soon?).
10. We are Alabama. It’s what we do.
