Thank you RBR
I wish the internet had been around when I was most of you guy's ages. In my younger day when Jan 1st and the bowl games were over you didn't get much college news at all. I've eaten and slept Alabama football for 53 years and you don't know how much it thrills me to be able to keep up with the Tide the way the internet has provided us. Anytime I want to know anything about the Tide all I have to do is turn on this dot com machine and click on RBR and read the news that friends have posted here. I don't know who started this blog and built it to what it is today but my hats off to them and I want to thank them for giving me a place to come to and be with Alabama minded people. I want to thank all the people on here that are so damn passionate about Alabama football, it amazes me how so well informed some of yall are. I also want to thank you for putting up with my computer illiteracy and my reply fail. I hope everyone here at RBR has a great 2012 and we start it off with another national championship. ROLL TIDE YALL!!!!
FanPosts are just that; posts created by the fans. They are in no way indicative of the opinions of SBN and the authors of Roll Bama Roll.

I for one am glad to have the perspective of the long term fans like you.
And even though most of us youngin’s don’t like to admit it, we’ve all gone through the embarrassment of learning new technology, we just started at a younger age. And I agree, RBR is an incredible service for those of us that can’t get enough of our Tide.
So how are you watching the game? Are you going to NOLA?
Hand-crafted rugged paracord gear: 8 Legs Web Belts
I have
what my wife calls “The man cave” with a 100" projection screen, Bose surround sound and thats where I will be watching the game. I would love to be in NOLA but they make it where a man like me can’t afford to go to such important games.
Dang!
They also make it so a man like me can’t afford a 100" projection screen, Bose surround sound, and my own “man cave.” And by “they,” I mean The Man, and my wife. Who is also The Man. Or, you know, The woMan.
I’m gonna hang up an’ lissen…
Thirteen.
It is not as expensive as you might think.
I bought two team ticket reservations for Bama in Jan last year at $75 each. Then got 2 tickets for face value- $300. I mean $375 per ticket is not that much…not really.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Is it just me
or does this sound like you justifying the purchase to yourself?

Nah, not trying to justify anything.
In the grand scheme of things $400 or $800 for 2 to go see us play for a NC is not a big price to pay when I just finished paying about 90k for my kid to graduate from Bama.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Was it $75 or $85? 'cause I did the same thing and it was $85.
And yeah, I think it’s worth every penny at that price.
God bless our Dark Lord.
This has been my first foray into the whole seat license/reservation thingy.
I just can’t believe it worked as conveniently as it did…

Well I really thought it was 75
but it was in Jan so you might be right.

What section were you in, 50?
I was in 630. I’m assuming that was all tickets from that same system, but the people sitting around me had bought off Stubhub. It was all Bama except we had on LSU couple sitting next to us.
God bless our Dark Lord.
Beers up, Jasands!

Here, here!
I actually found this place when I was googling something to the effect of “Alabama coaching search” after Shula had gotten fired. After trolling a few sites for a couple of days, I finally stumbled across a site who refused to post stuff like:

I found this site back in 2007
I was googling (that’s a correct term, right?) for Alabama’s 2008 schedule after we had lost to ULM, looking ahead to the future. I didn’t actually join until the 2008 season started, but this is definitely the best quality site for Alabama news.
Sure
I google myself all the time!

For some reason
I had it in my head that you were in your 20’s. I hope that can be taken as a compliment the same way it would be if I were to see you in person and make the same assumption. Anyway, it’s intended as such.

Yes, they verbed me with you, JSands
and then had to ‘splain it to me. Hence my reply here. I am a lineal thinker and like to read the posts in chrono order, but am now “with the program.” By the way, I am old, too. Now, if I can figure out how to post fanshots with paragraphs and how to rec something, they’ll stop pointing at me so much. I found RBR during the coaching drama and was glued to it during Julio’s recruiting. I still remember him in that yellow sweater! Thank you to all of the RBR exec’s. You do a great job!

Well put, Jasands
The reason I come to this site is EVERY day is because it lacks trolls and hearsay of the loldaveyjones variety. It deals in facts and informed analysis. I guess you could say RBR is the anti-Finebaum Show.
I used to be on Tidesports until they went all corporate on us. But even they were full of trolls and a-hole know-it-alls only concerned with post counts. [I really hated that “Gilmer” thing they’d do – which is highly offensive to the Bama legend in my eyes.]
Keep up the good work RBR.

Say what you want about trolls,
but I think that whole “Saban to the Greek National Team” rumor has legs.

What'd they say about Gilmer?
For whatever reason I got all my news off of al.com… I got tired of inbreds arguing and found this place… It’s great.
Tidesports had this odd ranking system based on how many posts you had
I guess you got a point for every post and there were some people who would comment on EVERY post just to get points. Some did it because they thought they knew everything.
The people with low post counts were Harry Gilmer, the next level up was another former Tide player on up to the highest level. I can’t remember who the other players were but you know: Stabler, Namath, etc. Not sure why Tidesports decided Gilmer was the lowest.
Anyway, many of these high-post-count guys thought they were better than others and when someone new or uninformed asked a question they deemed to be stupid, they would call them a “gilmer” – not meant as a compliment – and it became pretty widely used on the site though some people did not know who Harry Gilmer was. A few others and I objected.

Harry Gilmer...

i met mr. gilmer last year
a supremely wonderful person and deserving of far more credit for what he achieved on the football field.
SB Nation's The Historical: Because all those games way back when matter.
Agreed...
…he’s the only first overall NFL pick ever from Alabama, he guided an undefeated, national championship caliber team that was excellent on both sides of the ball, and you could argue he was the best QB in UA history…or RB…or DB…or return specialist….

Another Alabama legend you don't hear enough about
Don Hutson is practically the inventor of the wide receiver position. He held the NFL career TD reception record for 44 years! And he did it in only 11 seasons playing both ways.
A little known fact: Hutson also had 30 interceptions including a pick-6 in his final 6 season (no records kept before 1940) as a defensive back. He also had 3 rushing TDs and scored 193 career points as a placekicker.
If you or someone you know does not know about Hutson, educate them, B)
VIDEO
Fourteen and counting
True...
…but Huston gets a lot more pub than Gilmer due to his stellar NFL career and the fact that he played alongside one of the two greatest coaches in CFB history….

By far, this is the best site for Alabama Football on all the Internets
I’m about the same age as Jasands, and, like him I’ve sought out any and all info about the Tide throughout the years. Living in Georgia for the last 30 years has made it tough. But finding RBR was the best thing that ever happened to this Bama fan.
"Football has never been just a game to me. Never."

The best site by far.
I’m sure it has happened, but I can not think of anything the editors put out that was a news story that was not the truth.
Since Pete left I can’t remember any commentary of an editor I disagreed with. However, I wish Pete was still here.
And, the people who post here in general know football.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Pete completely disagrees with everything you just said, BTW....
