Alabama’s Trevor Releford was named SEC Player of the Week after averaging 18.0 points, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals in leading the Tide to the 2K Sports Classic championship with wins over Oregon State and Villanova.
Releford was also named Most Outstanding Player of the event. In the semifinals against Oregon State, he connected on 6-of-10 field goals and recorded 14 points and five assists without a turnover to lift the Crimson Tide to a 65-62 victory. In the championship game against Villanova, Releford, making his first start of the season, went for a career-high 25 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor and was 5-of-5 from three-point range in the 77-55 victory over the Wildcats.
