So I'm of the generation where I have never understood the "can't win at LSU" unrelenting diatribe every year we are slated to go over to tiger stadium. After last nights (latest) heroics I decided to do some research and share why the talking heads rambling on and on about the mystique of Death Valley is absolutely lost on this particular Bama fan.
Between 1971 and 1999 LSU was winless in Baton Rouge, going 0–14–1. (I was born in 1971 so for just about 30 years of my life I had no knowledge of what losing at Death Valley was like) In fact I remember as a kid when I saw LSU on our TV (or listened on radio) I would ask where are we playing and when I was told Death Valley I would be relieved and knew we would win.
Also just one more thing. LSU used to be the party school and was known for how nasty and rough the fans were at games. Now just on the outside looking in the fans look more like loud, childlike, and costumed caricatures of real football fans.
So the next time someone or a talking head gets to talking about "mystique of Death Valley" just remember last night (we took LSU's best shot they will have for a long time) and came away with a win. Coupled with the above information or history if you will . You can say no big deal man, no big deal.
Roll Tide!
