2012 Post-Signing Day Projected Offensive Depth Chart

This is my honest opinion on how the offensive depth chart will fall at this point. I will post defense and special teams later if feedback is good. If I think a player will transfer I will make a note. Feel free to cut me to shreds and have some fun with this. I will also make some notes on particular players on moves I expect them to make

Star-divide

QB1 A.J. McCarron JR (Incumbent starter)

QB2 Phillip Sims SO (likely to transfer)

QB3 Phillp Ely RFR (If he sticks around, will compete for starting job in 2014)

QB4 Alec Morris FR (Likely redshirt)

QB5 Morgan Ogilvie SO (Son of Major, likely won't play a significant snap except in a doomsday scenario)

HB1 Eddie Lacy (Has to be number 1 going into spring practice, not as good as Ingram or Richardson but easily most experienced RB on roster. Most impressive stat is that he has averaged over 7 yards per carry over his career)

HB2A Dee Hart RFR (Former 5 star recruit who is most similar to Jacquizz Rodgers)

HB2B T.J. Yeldon FR ( 5 Star recruit who has already enrolled and will participate in spring practice, expect around 100 carries this year)

HB3 Jalston Fowler (Runs like the traditional FB, could see time as short-yardage back)

HB4 Kenyan Drake (Possible Redshirt)

HB5 Blake Sims (Possible transfer)

H-Back1 Harrison Jones SO (Best candidate to step into Brad Smelly role)

H-Back2 Malcom Faciane RFR

WR1 Kenny Bell JR (Made his case to be number 1 in the National Championship Game

WR2 DeAndrew White SO (Showed promise early in season but faded toward the end, will be in competition to at least start this season)

WR3 Duron Carter JR (No one quite knows what to expect, could wind up number 1, could wind up not even playing)

WR4 Chris Black FR (4 star recruit that projects to make a splash in his freshman season. Not enrolling early could result in a redshirt)

WR5 Kevin Norwood JR

WR6 Danny Woodson Jr RFR

WR7 Marvin Shinn RFR

WR8 Amari Cooper FR (Likely Redshirt)

WR9 Claus Gladney FR (Likely RS)

WR10 Michael Bowman JR (Likely transfer)

TE1 Michael Williams SR

TE2 Brian Volger SO

TE3 Nate Carlson SR

TE4 Brandon Lewis SR

TE5 Kurt Freitag FR (Likely Redshirt

LT1 Cyrus Kouandijo SO (Expect to step in and anchor the LT spot for the next 2 years and if all goes as we expect that's it.)

LT2 Tyler Love SR (So much for that 5 star ranking)

LT3 Brandon Green FR (Likely Redshirt)

LG1 Chance Warmack SR (Solid experienced senior)

LG2 Arie Kouandijo SO (Likely to be most versatile back-up)

C1 Barrett Jones SR

C2 Kellen Williams JR

C3 Chad Lindsay SO

RG1 Anthony Steen JR (Solid RG, who showed much improvement after getting embrassed by Nick Fairley)

RG2 Arie Kouandijo SO

RT1 D.J. Fluker JR (Not a bust but not what we all expected either, still a solid RT)

RT2 Austin Shepherd SO

I don’t know much about Chris Black, but I would expect Kevin Norwood to be ahead of him and to get significant playing time.

God bless our Dark Lord.

Nice Post

except Gladney commited to Texas Tech lol hopefully Fowler will get more carries next year I think he’s earned it and I think RG spot will be nice battle between Steen and Arie K but I think Steen will start too because of his experience and Arie’s history of injuries

I would also say Norwood ahead of Black.

TE Nate Carlson = walk-on transfer. Has never played a snap. Can’t see him playing in 2012 either.

QB Morgan Ogilvie – also a walk-on is not a sophomore that’s probably a typo. He is a senior or maybe graduated. Will never play. Blake Sims would go before him anyway.

Graduates in May.

I’ve got a class with him this semester. Great guy.

Thanks...

…just remember seeing him and his family at Senior Day, so I knew he was finished or finishing soon.

Consider this good feedback to continue...

I thought it was Norwood that had the bigger day in the NC. I know Bell had the sideline screen catch where he caught it at the line of scrimmage and raced about 30 some odd yards. Norwood caught the more acrobatic over the shoulder catches on a couple of occasions. Am I right? It is hard to tell who will emerge at the skill positions, running backs included. Eddie Lacey seems the logical heir apparent. It’s hard to get a read on Fowler considering the times of the game he came in. He’s faster than a typical fullback. Dee Hart getting touches in the spring game and scoring a TD on our defense says a lot.
You never know who we get the surprise production out of. One of our new signees or the light finally coming on for somebody that’s been in the system. For example, no one laugh, Tyler Love, ala Drew Davis.

Norwood is going to be in the rotation

as one of the top 3 WRs.

You left Christion Jones off your chart. I see him as # 3 or #4. Right now I’d go- Carter, Norwood, Bell, and Jones as the top 4 in that order, if Carter plays.

White I don’t know. I’m sure he will play. I think of the FR Cooper will play the most. I also think Eddie Williams may play some WR.

Don’t know if Arie will be a guard. He is very tall.

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

Ain't this a bit premature?

Not that it impacts your depth chart in a significant way, but he is.

Dang, it seems like just yesterday that he came to the University,

and people were pumping him up as though he was going to walk-on and take over the spot. Him and, who was that other kid that everyone wanted to see play but knew nothing about? Fanuzzi?

Lindsay and Shepard will challenge

Have a feeling they want to get Barrett back at OG and will look hard at the young guys.
Also Norwood has to be 2nd or 3rd at the lowest going into jr year. He plays well when given a shot. Maybe a personality issue with the coaches or something has kept him limited. Maybe he is still recovering from Penn State 2010 end zone theatrics. Hardcore even for CNS.
Very curious about H Back. Every year someone steps up and ends up being one of my favorites (Dial could seal the edge at full speed like a maniac). Jones got some snaps. Like to see Vogler do something. He might fit.
Bring on Spring practice. Feed me the scraps Izzy!
