Season tickets... am I dreaming?
I've been a life-long Crimson Tide fan but sadly have never been to a game at BDS. I'm now determined to change that this year. I've looked at ticket prices for games in recent seasons on StubHub and others but haven't found any that I could make work in a tight budget.
I'm interested in buying season tickets but don't really know much about how it works. I went to the RollTide.com website and registered for the waiting list a few months ago but haven't heard anything from them at all. I'm hoping that I'm on the waiting list but don't really know.
My questions for you all are... am I crazy to think that I'll get a shot at season tickets? Do I stand a better chance of winning the lottery? Is there anything that I can do to improve my chances? Are there other/better ways to get season tickets? What has other's experience with this process been?

Your not alone...
Tide Pride is one way but you need a shit ton of points. The points are determined by the amounts donated. In other words, if your tight on money, you’d have better odds winnin the lottery.

I think the waiting list for Tide Pride right now
is like 30,000 people. Each year they replace those who do not renew with those in that line. If you are young enough you might get your named called in 30 years or so.
And, I think it is true that if you make big contributions you jump up in the line. Now, you don’t have to make big contributions to get in Tide Pride but you will wait your turn.
So basically you are asking the impossible. I mean it isn’t even on a lottery system so there is no luck involved. It is just when you sign up. And don’t worry they will contact you, no need in you checking with them, although if your address changes you might want to notify them.
If you just want to go for 1 year you can try the stub hub approach and probably get an entire season for a couple of grand, although any year we play AU that price will go up some. Craig’s list may be cheaper but it has some risk that Stub Hub does not have.
Good luck. Our Tide Pride seats have been in our family since the beginning of the program and they are coveted like gold. A few years ago you were allowed to do a 1 time switch of your Tide Pride seats to a child or grandchild. Our family switched them and put them in the name of the youngest grandchild figuring that would allow our family to keep the tickets for another 75 years. We are did it the legal way, but there are folks that die and don’t tell the University and keep ordering tickets in a dead persons name. Obviously with this kind of thing your odds go up even more.
Seriously your best bet is out in front of the stadium 20 minutes before kick-off. If I did not have a ticket that is exactly what I would do. $200 will get you in about any game exception being something like LSU this year.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
That's what my dad's found. He decided that when he's by himself he prefers to wait as long as possible.
Although this year’s LSU game I got him a student ticket and upgraded, and he seemed to really enjoy that.

This sounds hilarious:
there are folks that die and don’t tell the University
I know exactly what you mean, but this is funny.
Fourteen.
Dont worry about tickets.
I’d expect you’ll be able to get free tickets to every home game except A&M and Auburn. I expect to pay close to 40 for each. A&M is an anomaly though. A subpar big name team we’ve basically never played. It could be free, but not likely due to the novelty, like Penn State a few years ago. There are scores of tickets for sale and given away each and every game. A ticket should be the last concern you have.
If you’re hell bent on really good seats and the same seat each and every game. You really have no other option than season tickets.
Stubhub, just like all the others, is for suckers. Over face tickets around BDS on game day are a rarity(unless you want something near the 50 or between the 20’s lower bowl. Only home game I know for sure last year that people couldn’t get a free ticket to was LSU. All the rest were free. This is without any connections to people with tickets.
Having said all that, this is for singles for all games and pairs for non conference crappy teams. really good tickets to good games aint free or cheap. I just don’t care where i sit, as long as it’s not in the new upper decks.
The new upper deck is brutal, but
my daughter made a couple of hundred bucks selling her lower bowl tickets to GSU and sitting in the upper deck North Zone on free tickets. She figured it would be a blow out and she could move down at half…Wrong on both counts. She has decided to never do that again.
And I don’t doubt you can get free single tickets to most home games this year if you wait until right before kickoff….although I’d say the free ones would generally be upper deck. I have never seen two together for free but then again I have never been looking.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
A pair is tough for most bigger SEC games.
We can always find a pair of lowers to a crappy game. Multiple pairs. I normally give away 5-10 tickets for bad games all over the stadium.
Bad sec games we can get singles for free most anywhere and a lower pair for free if were lucky.
Good sec teams or good out of conference games we can get an upper for free, lower for twenty. We won’t spend more than 40 for a pair no matter what. We rarely get pairs, if ever, closer to never.
Big games pay face, no more no less. A big game rarely happens though. Expect face for a single. Do not waste your time on pairs.
Anomalies do occur. We couldn’t get any tickets under forty for Tenn this year. We normally don’t even carry cash to the games. Lucked up as I ran into an old friend with a pass who got me in for free. My buddy found a ticket on the ground. LSU this year was impossible. I didn’t even look. I got. I dare not say how. It cost me less than face.
We get there 30 minutes before kickoff. We don’t normally start getting hits until 10 minutes before kickoff.
Worse comes to worse, get a crappy upper deck ticket and walk around. There are a lot of places to stand and watch the game in the stadium. If you walk to the right places, you can just walk back down to the lower bowl and hang out there.
Three games this year are really crappy. Expect free ones all over the stadium.
Two crappy SEC games. Expect free uppers, some free upper pairs, and a few free lower pairs. Easily get a pair for forty on the lower bowl.
One new game with A&M, single for twenty, upper, maybe forty, lower. A pair goes for eighty to a hundred, maybe 120, lower level.
Auburn, Been to the last four, 08-face in the student section, 09 @ auburn 60, 10 @ bama upper deck for 20. 11 @ auburn lower for 20. I’d expect to pay forty to sixty.
Wow! Just WOW!!
Thanks to all of you who have responded to this with info and advice. I’m overwhelmed and really surprised to learn that it is possible to get tickets the day of the game, at the stadium. I had always assumed that heading to Tuscaloosa without tickets in hand would be a fool’s errand. This is truly great news and I’ll be planning a trip there this year. Not sure which game I’ll choose… I’m thinking I would like to see TA&M get their introduction to big boy football, SEC style. I’m not looking for free tickets and won’t mind paying face value or even face + 10% or so, just not the ridiculous prices I see on Stub Hub.
So… does anyone have recommendations on where to stay in T-town? I’ll probably fly into Birmingham and rent a car from there. I figure I had better make room reservations very soon.
And… if worse comes to worse and I’m not able to score tickets, where is the best place near campus to go and watch the game with good company and libations?
Well, if you don't have hotel reservations yet I suspect
they will be hard to come by. Although even now you can probably get a reservation at somewhere cheap like LaQuinta or Rodeway. Even with the cheap hotels expect to pay $200 a night. But I would guess all the decent places are full. My personal favorite is the Wingate and I’m sure they are full for A&M.
A much better plan and less expensive is to stay in Birmingham. I have stayed in Birmingham on many occasions and just commuted back and forth to T-town on Friday and Saturday.
You are going to need to ask these other guys about the bars because I have never gone to a game and not gone in.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Another question...
Is there any way to get tickets to the opener in Arlington for less than the high-priced Stub Hub option? My niece would like to go to that game as she has friends coming down from Michigan. Do season ticket holders get tickets to that game?
Thanks for the lodging recommendations too. If I can’t find anything in T-town I’ll just look for something on the west side of Birmingham, maybe Bessemer. It looks like no more than a two hour drive.
Here is my take on Michigan.
It is a split stadium like a bowl game so that means fewer tickets for each side. Tide Pride people are given a first chance at the tickets before the university would put left overs if there are any for sale to the general public.
Now, as crazy as it sounds, if I wanted to go to that game I’d check with Michigan. They travel well but no body travels like Bama.
Considering the size of the stadium I’d guess buying one right before the game will be possible. However, right now on stub hub tickets to that game are way over priced. Since I’m throwing a big wedding in the Fall I have to give up something and going to Texas for a football game is it.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Stay in Birmingham...
…since you’re flying through there, that makes the most sense, unless you can miraculously find something in T’town. Also, unless you want to fight the craziest traffic this side of L.A., either leave the game early (not that I like to do this) or hang out in Tuscaloosa for a couple of hours to celebrate the victory.
I know some people who recommend staying in Columbus, MS…but if you’re flying through B’ham, that doesn’t sound like the thing for you to do.

Season Tickets are a waiting game
I went the waiting route for tickets several years ago. My son was ten and a huge fan of Alabama football. I have always been a fan and have enjoyed many games through the years. But have always picked up tickets on line or in front of BDS. I had to wait 7 years before I got tickets. So my my wife and I are enjoying going to the games and we visit with our son who is a student at Alabama and goes to the games with his student ticket. The letter that notified us of our tickets told us that there were sixteen thousand people on the waiting list. That was two years ago, I figure the waiting list is longer now than it was then.
I put my name on the list a year or two ago and haven't seen any confirmation of that yet,
but I do get Tide Pride emails all the time. So they know who I am at least.
God bless our Dark Lord.
I would...
…keep my name on the waiting list, but as others have said, don’t expect to hear from the University for years. In the meantime, look at it this way. If you bought two season tickets in the lowest priced section of BDS right now, you would spend about $1,400. So while you’re waiting to hear from UA, you can use that figure to buy yourself tickets to the games you most want to see.
I agree with the people here who say you can find seats cheapest by waiting until close to kickoff to make your purchase. The great thing about doing this in Tuscaloosa is that you don’t have to worry about counterfeiters because licensed ticket sellers have to wear proper identification to sell.
Whatever the case, you need to get yourself to BDS this year. You’ll be glad you did. Roll Tide.

It would be nice though if the system at least sent you an automated response when you signed up,
something to the effect of “don’t call us, we’ll call you when your name comes up” would at least let you know that you filled out the application right.
God bless our Dark Lord.
Good pick up on brokers.
The best way to make sure the tickets out side the stadium are legit is just to get them from a ticket broker. Word of warning…be very careful buying tickets for the SECCG outside on the streets.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
I can't stress this enough....

I do plan to keep my name on the list...
so maybe my grandkids will be able to get season tickets some day. i’m certain it will be worth the wait! And I will be there this year!
ROLL TIDE!
It would probably be smarter to put the grandkids names on the list
because the university did a one time transfer about 5 years ago but I do not anticipate they will ever do that again. When you die the tickets revert back.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Waste of time to by from brokers.
If you want a ticket the moment you get in town and cannot wait unitl before kickoff, by from a broker. But expect to pay a premium for the security of having a ticket hours before the game.
I stick to talking to well dress individual, people with kids or a nagging wife, or women. These people don’t wear anything around their neck because they’re not trying to make a buck off you. They just want to get rid of the spare they got on them and don’t care about ripping you off.
Any body, black or white, with a broker’s lisence is out there to hustle you for more than the ticket is worth. It’s their job. You want less shady looking people selling tickets? Quit buying tickets from them, and please quit paying so damn much for them.
Brokers are for suckers.
should read "buy from brokers" not by.
tpynig is hrad.
Well, even the brokers will come down
a few minutes from kick off. They aren’t going to eat a ticket if they can get $20 for it. The advantage of buying from a broker is that the ticket is going to work. As far as a nice family men dragging their kids etc. I rarely, I mean rarely, see them standing on the corner holding up tickets. They usually sell their tickets to a broker because they are bit afraid to sell tickets on the corner.
To me the funniest thing, and we have all seen it, is one guy yelling “who needs tickets” and not five yards away another guy yelling “who has extra tickets.”
By the way, if you do have extra tickets, and they are lower bowl, or even upper deck in some cases, you can make a lot of money on Stub Hub. Last year selling my family’s extras I made over $1600 profit and we did not sell any LSU tickets which were going for over $1000 a pair on Stub Hub. When you can sell lower bowl tickets to North Texas for $ 150 a seat on Stub Hub…well that is insane.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

That always cracks me up. Occassionally I’ll say “that guy right there needs tickets” and then point at the other guy. They don’t like that.
God bless our Dark Lord.
Tide Pride waiting list
I’m a Tide Pride member since 90’ and have requested additional seats and going into year 3 of waiting. The girl I spoke with said the prioroty goes to current ticket holders 1st based on point totals, then new requests. She also suggested contacting them every 2-3 years to keep your name and info updated as they do some type of list housekeeping around then. That didnt make much sense to me bc I’d think once your name is on it, it’s on until tickets become available. Tide Pride does a few things that make no sense to me, so better safe than sorry.
Long story short, you’re better off doing what everyone else suggested and using StubHub or ticket broker seats before games.
Tide Pride making no sense?
Come on basically they let dead people vote.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

I have been on the waiting list since Saban was hired and am still waiting. I called the Tide Pride office for info, but the only thing they could tell me is that I will be notified by mail or email when my turn comes. One plus is that by being on the waiting list you will get the opportunity to purchase tickets returned by the visiting before they go on sale to the general public, though they go fast and the tickets are usually non conference opponents.

I think Vandy returned some last year.
Look for returns in the future from these new distant teams like A&M and Mizzou. Can’t see people from Mizzou making the drive. i have no idea how well A&M travels.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
There was a one time allowance to switch your points to someone else?
I hope they do that again—I’m going to snatch up my dad’s 6 tickets.
Also, if you buy season baseball or basketball tickets you will accrue points which will move you to the front of the list. They are super cheap compared to football tickets and are worth more points.
By the way...the switch was not for points but Tide Pride Tickets only.
My family switched my 86 year old mother’s tickets into my 18 year old child’s name. In the process we lost all our points. We have the same seats in BDS but as far as points for away games, SECCG, etc. we are starting over. It was a tough decision because in order to keep these seats in our family for say another 70 years we gave up the ability to go to any of the away games, the SECCG, and maybe even the BCSNCG.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
