Don't you at least have to like one of them if you're a Saints man?

The Manning hate I've found has confused me.

Like, my best friend’s family is Saints fans and they rooted for the Patriots last night because they hate Eli Manning. I do not understand (I’m sometimes a Yankee).

Dave Robertson is growing up to be the new Mariano Rivera. My two universes of fandom can finally unite!

I guess I see the Peyton hate if you're a Bama fan

But Eli I don’t really get. Obviously you would be expected to like Archie if you’re a Saints fan.

I'm not watching the game...

After the most exciting college football season I can remember, I just can’t bring myself to care about the overhyped pro version.

Besides, I lost my enthusiasm for pro sports overall when the Atlanta Thrashers moved to Winnepeg…At least there’s no group of lying businessmen who are going to run the Crimson Tide into the ground, lie to the public and then sell the team to Canadians like Atlanta Spirit did.

Four things you'll never hear me say:

"Go (Winnipeg) J___ Go!"
"I welcome Mizzou to the SEC."

At least I remember the Houston Astros being competitive in the last decade…and getting to a World Series, too!

I thought for sure the saying was “offensive wins championships.”

Not throwing interceptions

or giving up safeties may not win championships but sure does help in not losing them.

A few oddities of the Super Bowl and the NCG

Both winning teams scored 21.
Both winning teams missed their final extra point.
Both winning teams had a starting QB who wore #10 and he (the qb) was MVP for both winning teams
Both winning teams lost to the losing team in the regular season.
Both winning teams had a worse record than the losing team even after the game.
Both winning teams head coach coached at Syracuse in 1977.
(I know that is a stretch)

By the way the post game celebration was much better at the NCG

If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.

Good stuff.

However, the Giants won the regular season game.

Yes, they were assitant coaches at Syracuse at the same time.

And by the way Syracuse did nothing

Better Defense

I watched the whole SB, which was rare as I usually get bored and forget about the game. I guess this defense winning championships fad" thingie" is over. Seriously I enjoyed the game but still couldn’t hold a candle to the Tides recent championship season.

by bornbama1 on Feb 5, 2012 10:42 PM CST reply actions

No I think that the defense winning championship thing

is still alive and well. I believe Eli managed the game, he didn’t force anything and never put the Giants D in a bad postion. Just like AJ in the Championship game. I honestly think it came down to the Giants D vs the high powered Pats O.

Sarcasm

Sorry I forgot to hit the sarcasm button on my post above, I was referring to the Giants holding the “greatest” coach/qb/offense ever to only seventeen points.

by bornbama1 on Feb 6, 2012 6:43 AM CST up reply actions

Oh, gee.

And the game’s over. And NY won. Has Nick’s mentor lost his mojo? He may be a defensive genius, but he needs to upgrade the talent, from what I’ve been reading. Also, get back to running the ball. Both teams threw the ball at least 40 times and only managed 38 points? It’s not like it was a shootout or a come from behind, down three touchdowns victory. And with over four ypc in the running game, why not run it some more?

Forgot to mention.

It’s not like there were two great defenses out there, shutting down the run.

Well the philosophy makes sense

when you consider that both teams averaged about seven yards per pass attempt. If each attempt is netting you three yards more than your rushing attempts, why not throw it?
