AP/ESPN saying the Big 10 considering a Plus One
Just another reminder of how far ahead of the curve the leadership of the SEC is: B1G considering Plus-one
Not that it will help their most pitiful attempts at FOOBAW. Just a reminder folks, our leadership along with the ACC proposed just this change to the format. b1g and their fail-partners big xii, pax 24, LEAST, etc., shot that down. Look who is laughing now.
Maybe we should demand that, to participate in a plus one, a conference whose name includes a number, that conference shall have that number of teams. If you cannot count, surely you cannot play championship football.

As I mentioned in another thread,
they seem to be trying to jump in on this early in the hopes that they can shape the discussion. They’re looking for ways to bring the games up north, apparently.
God bless our Dark Lord.
Probably hoping
they’d have some semblance of a chance to win on a wet, cold, crappy field where luck would come into play more than usual.

You are right but the Big 10 trying to get ahead of the curve
is a bit unusual.
If Auburn was in New Mexico and we never played them I would still hate them and their dumb coach and their cheating players.
Wait...
…since they rejected this same idea a few years ago, how does this qualify as trying to get ahead of the curve? Sounds to me like they’re desperately racing to find out if they can even see the curve….

Mike Slive pitched the "plus-one" in 2008
Unless the Big 10 commish has a flying DeLorean, they are not ahead of the curve.
Fourteen and counting
Well they're trying to make their own proposal instead of waiting to see what the SEC brings to them (for the second time).
That’s what I meant.
God bless our Dark Lord.
From what I've heard
they REALLY don’t want an 8-team playoff, so they’re hoping that they can keep the conversation around a +1.
Football in cold weather B1G country in December and January?
Oooooo! Could it also be at a dreary neutral site like Detroit or Indianapolis? And they want to keep a stranglehold on the Rose Bowl? Memo to the geezers at the big ten: LA is tired of your diarrhea brand of football.
9th January, 2012: Section 101, Row 1, Seat... I'll let y'all spot that one.

I'm still hoping that (if they're proposal came to be) the on-campus games would be 2 weeks after the conference championships.
Then at least those games would be in mid-December and not later than that. Of course the presidents are going to pretend to be concerned about the student-athletes and complain that that is during finals time (as though bowls don’t start that weekend already).
Also, TV is going to insist that those be night games, so you know it would be freezing wherever you are (except Florida). The B1G normally doesn’t have any night games on their schedule after October, and there’s a reason for that.
God bless our Dark Lord.
I hear the Big 10 is also considering legalizing the forward pass
