Kinda slow in the offseason, eh? Question for you tide fans. What are some teams that your parents hate but you actually don't (or have a slight affinity for)? For example...my dad HATES Notre Dame (media love, costing Bama championships), HATES UAB (money/resources/recruits that go there should/could go to T-town), and hates Georgia (fans were always annoying back in the day).
I understand his reasoning, and I empathize to a degree. BUT, I appreciate ND's history and simple uniforms. I love St. Patrick's Day (and all the wonderful drinks the Irish have given us), even as a Protestant I appreciate some of the RC liturgical elements (I know ND isn't Ireland, but I enjoy the connection). Yes I want those championships, or at least to have played against them to have a chance, yes I hate it that they have such a good record against us. But whatevs, ND is kinda cool to me. Athens, GA is a great town with a great local culture. All the Georgia fans I've met have been cool, so I have no really animosity towards them. Most days I don't mind the Bulldawgs winning at all - they hate UT and UF as much as we do. Even UAB...the little engine that tries. I love the Ham, played some great parties for UAB students (was in a band while at Bama in a former life), and hell...the Blazers - gotta appreciate the mascot (although they probably should just shut the football program down, heh). And it's a great Med School. So again, whatevs. Go Blazers.
Thoughts, stories, concerns? What are some teams that make your list?
Just for the record, my top three non-Bama football teams I find myself consistently hoping they do well but have no real reason to care are Penn State, Nebraska, and Kentucky.
