The Curious Case of FSU

Stay connected for news and updates

Its now widely being reported that the Florida State Board of Trustees have publicly slammed the new ESPN/ABC TV deal and are openly interested in discussing membership with the Big 12. It would seem that this is due to the favoritism shown the schools with large basketball following versus schools with football followings. While the general deal will pay each institution $17 million per season, it now appears that there is a little caveat to the deal that was not initially reported. Basically as I understand it, for third tier broadcasting rights in basketball each individual institution will create their own deal. Obviously, this would considerably favor schools like Duke and North Carolina over a school like FSU. Its well known that the fanbase at FSU has been unhappy in the ACC for a long time now, so despite the potential pitfall of a buyout fee, moving will be quite popular amongst that group. With that in mind, I decided to put forth a poll question. Basically, if it is inevitable that 16 team super conferences are on the way whether we like the idea or not, would FSU be a school that we as fans would want?
