How Good Are Things At Alabama? Saban Just Made a Long-Snapper Commitment #18

If you look at the current roster, the 2012 signees (all of whom should be on campus) and the 2013 commitments, it appears that the Alabama staff has filled up every need. So much so, that this team got TWO high-quality QBs and are still going after running backs.

And now, Coach Saban has gone and offered a full scholarship to long-snapper. But this is no ordinary long-snapper.

Cole Mazza (believe it or not, there are two 2013 recruits by this same name; the other is a RB from Florida) is from Bakersfield, CA and was committed to UCLA. The Alabama staff saw him perform at a special teams camp in Tuscaloosa and were so impressed that they offered him a scholarship but he had a week to decide. Mazza (6-1, 240) did not need seven days to make the decision.

Mazza is a 2-star by most recruiting services but he is considered the No. 1 long snapper (the best kickers and punters rarely get more than 2 stars). Reportedly, this kid has perfected the snap in speed, accuracy and "tightness". Carson Tinker will be gone after this season and Cole will be a welcome addition.

Yes, he has a video!

Ladies and gentlemen, this team is officially STACKED!
